Dauntless, with Swordfish running a close second.

I know swordfish die quick to anti-air, but they are versatile as both ASW and torp bombers.

I say Swordfish just cause when/if it score hits I can gloat...because its a bi-plane!

I'll say Kate, the only survivable air torp delivery system in the game, also I like Akagi, they go well together.

I'd say the Wildcat because it's Destroyer Bane but the Dauntless from an Enterprise with a Catalina can get 13 Dice. 13 Dice is enough to take out anything smaller than a Battleship and it's enough to strike fear in the heart of a battleship. Plus Press the Attack means it stands a good chance of getting through.

I wanted to vote both Wildcat (as best fighter)
And Dauntless (as best bomber)

What makes the Dauntless the best is the Expert Bomber+2 + Shadowing which between them approximatly doubles it's effectiveness. e.g. V's Akagi;
Dauntless 76% hit, 6% vital hit - average 4.4 attacks to sink.
+Enterprise & +Catalina 70%, 24% - average 2.9 attacks to sink. Thats a net 50% improvement.
Or V's Yamato; Dauntless 12% hit +Enterprise + Catlina = 37% For a net 200% improvement.

While expert torpedo bomber only improves the Kate by 33%

Have to go with the Dauntless. When operating from a Yorktown, nobody throws down more dice or is as difficult to stop.

Subs+fighters and BB's dominate the game out of the box, so I'll take Kates over Dauntless. Using a few rule modifications like harassed subs/fighters, the Dauntless becomes extremely dominant.

I thought you couldn't stack your SA(s). So, how can a Catalina and an Enterprise stack their SA(s) onto one flight of Bombers? Please clarify this for me.

You cant stack abilites of the same name. The PBY has a different SA than the Enterprise so they can stack fine.

I think the Kate is the best looking, I like the meatballs on the top of the wings. I like to use the Dauntless, 13 dice rocks.

Gotta go with the SBD. The only dive bomber that can EFFECTIVELY double as a fighter
