Multiple aircraft attacks. agian

I was under the impression that fighters were the only planes that could make multiple attacks, one anit-air in the air defense step and one strafing run in the air attack step at a ship. However you said on a previous thread "Aircraft can attack in all three phases if they have the appropriate attack types." First of all which three phases? I thought aircraft made one attack using one attack type in the air attack phase Except for fighters that make an anti-air attack in the air defense step.
Now I'm all confused.
I'm just hoping you could be a little more specific than your last thread,

My mistake on the three phases thing. I was thinking for some reason that torpedo bombers attack during the torpedo phase, but they don't, so that should be two phases.
