Axis and Allies D-Day is broken !

The game is broken, the rules are deeply flawed, the colors are horrible, the map is a tragedy, and blah blah blah.

There ... thought I'd get started on all the premature judgements - just like was going on 2 months ago before anyone even had their hands on A&A revised.

Will it come with the Marvel comic adaptation of Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos meets Capt. America over the Guns of Navarrone?, while the Red Skull and his legion of super soldiers try to turn D-Day in to the Longest Day?????

Does anyone have an idea to make a sub-game for playing a 'Kelly's Heroes' type of 'Variant'?My idea would be...

2 player game. Both players are Germany alternating and 1 guy is the regular army and one guy is Kelly Hereos. Who ever takes Claremont first wins the game. (The Germans can't win of course!)

One guy is Clint Eastwood and Kelly Hereos and the other is Carol O'Connor/Lietenant Maitlan. The Carol O'Connor player walks around the room in his bathrobe yelling stuff like "Where are my aerial photographs?! You lost my aerial photographs?"... "Shut up I got the game on!" "Look at this loser. I'm in his office drinkin his booze. I even got one of his broads around here!" "Claremont, that's 20 miles behind their lines!" "You think I can get this yacht all the way to Paris?"

The Kelly's Heroes player says "I'm goin after that gold Joe, and all these lime green plastic pieces are comin' with me." "There's no booze, there's no broads. There's no action!" "Have a bottle of booze your beautiful." "All these negative waves. Think positive thoughts and the bridge will be there."

Whoever gets there gets a split of the gold, but they have to share it with the Germans cause they got the tanks. tongue.gif

This game, from what I can see, looks very good. It does seem to be based on an old Avalon Hill classic named Breakout:Normandy. If it is...I'm really looking foward to when it is released. Can you Avalon Hill guys weigh in and lets us know some of the rules. I think you folks should also consider doing a version of Mike Rinella's game Montgomery's Gamble: Market Garden if this game is successful!

I really think this would work as a scenario game. You get 12 inf to start: Big Joe and Kelly attack at 6, Barbara and Crapgame at 1 (and don't forget Mulligan's artillery barrage). If you make it through the first crossroads you get Oddball with his three tanks. If you make it to the bridge you get the "Mother beautiful bridge" and 60 inf. You get a head start and you have to beat the US Army to Claremont. Fun game I think.

"Kelly I'm gonna bust you out of this outfit so fast your feet won't even touch the ground"
