why would u use an AC that can only carry one aircraft?jw on individual
opinions on this one

betty bombers, how efficient are they when compared to the vals and kate's?
either way i will most likely use them because

keep in mind i don't get many of the mechanics of the game yet

and last but not least, how would a build like this do?

Kongo-->35pts.
Shokaku-->20pts.
3x Zero-->18pts.
Kate-->10pts.
Type 13 Subchaser-->8pts.

More bombers, less fighters. You only need one fighter per three bombers in the same sector to give all of them the Escort SA.

The best reason to use an Escort Carrier is that any planes that are based on a land base are only able to be used every other turn to simulate rearming and refeuling. The carrier based planes are supposed to be closer and so do not suffer this penalty (makes up for longer flight time to land bases). Also the EC's have some real nice Special Abilities for use with the planes.

Bettys suffer the every other turn problem where as Kates and Vals can be carrier based so Bettys don't really get used too much (at least not with the people I play with).

And your build is nice but I would dump the subchasers and prbably one Zeke for another Kate or Val and maybe try to fit in an I-19 sub.

Escort is another great ability of this aircraft and matches its historical usage. Unless your opponent has no aircraft, it is generally best to have one A6M2 escorting three bombers in a sector; this gives them the benefit of Escort while maximizing the number of bombers there. Even without enemy aircraft about, the Zeke can still be useful.

Official rules state that the Escort ability applies to all bombers in the square. Besides how often was it a 1 for 1 escort of planes

Well with the wording of the Escort SA there is no implication that it can only be used with one bomb squadron.

Back to the question at hand, I don't think you'd want that many Zeke's unless you've got a good hunch that you'll be facing a major bomb assault. Plus to have the Shokaku and not use its expert bomber 2 SA seems wrong, so you want at leats one Val (10 pts)
