There are a number of variants and other scenarios for Battle Cry on the 'net - has anyone tried these out? Have any favorites?

Get a copy of Time-Life Civil War Books, they have pretty good Battle Map Setups with descriptions of the terrian. They were about 88 major Civil War Battles, so you should be able to find the other 73 in the books, and dupilcate them on the gameboard, thanks, Pellulo

Thanks for the idea. One site on the net that has links to a lot of additional scenarios and variants is http://users.erols.com/jadf/bc/

Anyone tried any of these?

Missionary Ridge and Perryville only. Perryville is not bad and Missionary Ridge can turn out to be quite a suprise. Also have played the Jackson campaign twice (3 scenarios). It's pretty good and offers some new challenges.

i would love to play the fantasy variation, but i dont have any 10mm miniatures other than the ones that came with battle cry and the ones from the axis and allies games  . so far i have yet to find a place that sells 10mm single color plastic miniatures with ONLY ONE POSE (i hate those multi-pose ones  ). but for the fantasy variation, i could use "fancy" ones :D (if i could find them :( ).

For Games of Battles at that level, there WAS these aspects to take into account and woe to the Commander that didn't have adequate stocks of Ammo, Food, Forage, RESERVES, etc. In reality, these were seldom issues on the battlefield. Occasionally a unit would run out of ammo at a critical juncture but that usually had more to do with the situation than with their pre-battle supply state -- i.e., it becomes a critical juncture because the unit has fired off all of its ammo. A commander without adequate stocks of ammo, food, forage, or reserves would avoid battle rather than get drawn into a fight he was doomed to lose, unless he was under siege, cornered with no escape, or forced to fight for unsound political reasons. Thus, these become strategic concerns -- reasons why you lose a campaign but seldom a battle.

I agree completely about the warm feelings for Battle Cry. Great game. If you'd like to see more scenarios for it, create some and send them to me. If they're good and original, I'll find a place for them on the website.
