I am new to Battle Cry (but not AH games) and have a few Q's.

1) Can a unit be attacked more than once during a turn? The rules say a unit on the offensive can attack only once per turn (unless order cards allow otherwise), but can a given defending unit suffer multiple attacks (from different attacking units) on the same turn?

2) Woods hide line of sight, but can two adjacent units in the woods battle each other? Can artillery attack a unit on a woods square if no other LOS obstacles are in the way?

3) In other AH games, units are eliminated during retreat if they must cross another units "zone of control" (eg surrounding hexes). Any rules people use for BC? Also, must a retreat go only BACK toward one's own board game edge, or can a unit retreat "sideways"?

Thanks in advance to all!

The rules the way I interpret them:

1)Yes, a unit can be attacked by several units in a turn. Attacker also decides which units attack first. So if you think your infantry have a better chance of taking out an enemy unit, you could shoot with them first, then order your artillery to attack another unit instead of the first. If the infantry don't finish the job, use your artillery instead to finish the unit off.

2)Woods block line of sight THROUGH them, not INTO them. You can shoot into (with the proper modifiers) or out of woods hexes. If two units were in two adjacent woods hexes, the attacking unit would have a -1 dice modifier.

3)You must retreat backwards, and cannot retreat sideways. This gives you 2 options. If there are already units there, or the hex is impassable, you loose one unit for each retreat flag rolled. If you are near the edge of the board, and enough flags are rolled that force you to retreat off the board, the entire unit is lost and the enemy gets your flag. You cannot choose to loose units for each flag rolled in this case.

The only exception to retreating into another unit's space is if an entire unit retreats onto a General, and that unit does not already have a General attached. This also works with a retreating General onto a unit that does not have a General attached.

I'm pretty sure that this is right. If not, I would like someone to correct me smile.gif cuz I've been playing wrong, too!
