I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about an expansion for Cosmic Encounter.(The game is designed to accomdate 2 more planetary systems if you set up the board differently) I stopped at the Avalon Hill booth at GenCon in 2001 and they told me it was a possibility depending on customer response. I have heard no updates since.

On another note, I have made my own 5 to 7 player expansions and the only problaems that I have run into are lack of cards. Some of the alien powers and defender rewards make it impossible to have a draw pile. Everyone is hoarding them in their hand. I am working on different house rules to curail this such as either max hand size of 20 or defender rewards of +1 card for every 2 ships once you have a 7 card hand.

I would be interested to hear any rumors of an expansion or if anyone else has worked up house rules for incorporating more people into the game.

Yes, I should have made it more specific that I was asking about an expansion for the new AH version. I looked at some of the older versions on eBay, but they always sold for so much money.

I too am eager to see what AH will release next. They have so many great games from the past, how can they miss?

The Mayfair Edition has a few expansion sets available; I'd definitely get an Avalon-Hill issued expansion set if/when it comes available. I haven't heard about anything coming out from AH in quite some time..

I think it will be a while before AH releases anything new. They seem to be in a state of limbo right now while Hasbro tries to determine what to do with them. The fact that LOTR Risk and Star Wars Stretego were released under different Hasbro brands does not bode well IMO.
