Just read in the New Platoons article there will be an Australian Officer and an Owen SMG in a 'future' release.

That seals it, I'll be buying AAM 2.0!!!

As a reminder for the curmudgeons: The soldiers are the same size as before.

It's about time! :) MY guess is we'll be seeing these in the 1940-1945 release. I'm very excited about these future releases as I learn more.

More than likely they will be in the African themed set. I'm just glad the Australians will actually be getting anything other than their well trained infantryman.

Yes, the truth sucks... but no more boosters here...so...moving to singles...

Singles here as well...

the North Africa Set could actually contain some good pieces (Breda, Aussies, ... )

I would also be interested in the infantry singles. Given the demand pattern created by WotC, the infantry singles could turn out to become more expansive than the version 2.0 vehicle rares...

Ding ding ding. That is why you need to buy NOW all the fodder units you'll need.

Btw, with only 1 uncommon per booster, you'll have an equal number of rare units and uncommon. THe difference is the volume of each piece in your collection at the end.

AFAIK the disribution will be 1 rare - 2 uncommon 2 - common

but that means less common soldiers for us :(

2 uncommons? I'm surprised. I thought the distribution would be exactly like WaS, seing as how they are both 5-mini boosters.

but the soldiers are not changing... we have most of the soldiers already. I imagine they are trying to pump out the Maxis at a faster rate.

to be honest since I don't want any Maxis I'm interested in seeing a few planes. I hope they have some. Italy and France would be more interesting with a plane... and lord knows the Soviets need a fighter.

As far as soldiers go I just hope they spend more time creating new ones like a Romanian soldier.

Is this a re-issue only set? If so then I see your point. You want more Arisaka, Mosin, etc... I assume.

I believe that half uncommons will be Soldiers (MGs Commanders, ATGs?, Elite Inf?, so 2 uncommons make sense - 1 vehicle 1 soldier)

I think they said something like 1939-1945 is a reissue of old units - with a little twist (like the recosting of the Pz IV, the different rarity for some units...)

If they want to bait new gamers, rereleasing basic units is a must.

With everybody buying singles, I think I'll buy some cases and set up an e-bay store. Don't worry, I will not price gouge on S&H. :D

I fear the singles (especially infantry) prices will skyrockes (2 singles in a booster!)

The North Africa set is comprised of 60 units. I'm wondering how many Australian units will be in the new set. There are the two mentioned in the platoon formation article. I could see maybe three or four Australian units in this set. Maybe even a vehicle/rare.

With all this talk of the potentially skrocketing value of singles, it would seem that buying into version 2.0 might be a reasonable course of action. Cases will be more affordable (though with less units) right out of the gate at around $80.00 or so and the 1939-45 starter sets are priced more than reasonably IMHO for four staple tanks and maps. Add in the fact that they've announced 2 vehicles per booster and it appears that it won't be as difficult to come by "The Good Stuff" as it was with the first five sets. I think WOTC should get *some* credit for this. If, indeed they are "Sticking It To Us" with version 2.0, at least they are kind enough to use some lube.

Actually I don't think that the good stuff will be more common than before.

If I guess right the really good units will be uncommon (SSPG, Ranger, Paras,...) 24 rares in a 10$ boosert are not better than 15 ones in a 15$ booster,...

Who plays Cromwells?

Pz III - depends and the Staple sherman in outdated by the specialized versions...

The T34/76 is not THAT good gamewise...

I prefered the old format (size of vehicles and boosters)...

I guess Its all what a person defines as "Good Stuff"... I've got Rangers, paras and most infantry coming out of my eyeballs. They are still playable and to scale with the new tanks. What I should have said is that getting the new vehicles will be easier to come by/replace. All the tanks from the new starter set are historically staple tanks, no matter their value to the powergamer. For those just starting the game indeed, the much needed infantry will be harder to acquire.

NEW
1/24 to get a rare
1/12 to get an uncommon tank
1/12 to get an uncommon inf
2/12 to get an common inf

OLD
1/15 to get a rare
3/15 to get an uncommon (around 1/8 on a vehicle and 2/7 on an infantry
3/15 for an common infantry

(no I did not consider dependent probabilities and made a few assumptions)

Old gamer will have plenty of basic stuff, but newbies might get a hard way...

I would actually be very surprised if all the units in the North Africa set were new. I have a feeling there will be redos in that set as well. No proof...just a gut feeling.

No proof either, but I share the feeling (gamerzero announced that they do a re-release of the M5 ATG - correct size - in a later set)

As I said elsewhere a reappearance of selected staple units (basic soldiers, a few others soldier types and a few selected vehicles) every few sets is nothing I would complain. (After all also newbies should get Shermans or Mausers after the sets are out of stock)

But redoing rares as more common types would be disgusting (NOT speaking of the T34/76 here ;))

From our experience with WOTC/AH AAM V1.0 (the mini, not the maxi yet) nothing is always new...
And If I recall what was said before by WOTC Staff, not all the sets can be totally new units, surely not tanks.
