I just got Risk Godstorm! The box is very small, which means the storage container is nothing as great as Risk 2210. The cards are the same as A&A D-day (same material basically). The board is nice but unfolds oddly. Hell is way too small, imagine trying to fit 75 armies onto the moon in 2210. However, the game is awesome.

I won the first game. It was very intense combat, but a bit too complicated for a Risk game I have to say. And the destruction was infinite- when the game ended, many territorys were left in ruins. It really is the "biggest slugfest on the planet". God wars are cool. I thought that the "Roll 3 of the same number" labor would never get used, but it was. Twice, when we didn't have our Magic Gods, so it did us no good. It was a 3 player game, so it was a little hectic managing everything with the random setup. The pieces are huge, which is good... and bad. Crowding can become an issue. But other than that, they are the nicest I've seen so far. Even the elephants, with 5 heads sticking out of the basket thingy. However, I feel that the destruction made you feel secure about nothing, which is kind of a scary thought. However, one thing is very good- this is nothing like 2210 AD! On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 7, mostly because Hell was too small to be used easily.

I never liked the random setup rule which is why I'm glad they included "placement setup" in the official rules

also, it sounds like you only got miracle cards through labor only. If not, then I apologize, but you're allowed to buy miracle cards at the start of your turn for 2 faith each (up to 4 cards) provided that you have that specific god in play.

I also have a question about the underworld thing since I haven't played the game yet. I'd imagine there would be massive battles there since it's beneficial to control the crypt and the altars. If that's the case, wouldn't the numbers be very slim in the underworld?

all in all though, it sounds like a very fun game. I can't wait to get a bunch of people together to play this thing out, though the flimsy spears kinda scare me as I'm afraid they'll break =P.

yes, we bought our cards once or twice. Why so few times? Because almost every turn your gods are killed, at least 1 or 2, so you need to spend your money on regaining them beforehand. And in the underworld thing, the spaces can only fit about 5 men each, or 8ish if you use an elephant. Battles happen, but so many people die on the earth so the casaulties dont reach eachother soon enough. The reason why you have so many men there even when the die in combat is because you need to defend your powerful points with your life- or at least your soldier's. So a lot of times people will stick to defense when possible down there. It is fun, but don't worry about the spears- they're too soft to break unless you tear them. Sort of like how palm trees bend in the wind and oak trees snap.
