Is there anyone out there who still plays the old classic Midway? I found a copy long buried in my closet and dusted it off. I was excited to find that all the pieces are present and the boards are in good shape. I think I've got the bug again, but I haven't played in years and don't have too many prospects for opponents currently.

I'd love to look into the possibility of a PBEM game with someone, if anyone has it. The secretive nature of the game seems to lend itself well to PBEM.

I think it's the "Smithsonian" Edition. It's got the Smithsonian emblem on the box cover, anyway. I wasn't aware that there was an earlier version. I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with regarding that project, though. I love a good naval game, and it seems that there are not many good ones out there these days.

I happen to have both the Midway and Guadalcanal Smithsonian Editions. I've never found anyone to play them with. I do have the Wake Island variant you spoke of, but don't know if I have the Panama Canal one. I like the way the game works, very similar to Flattop, but somewhat simpler.

Hey TDCGSL, what would you think about trying to get a PBEM game of Midway going on? I don't know how it would really work out, but it seems like it is well suited to PBEM, since everything is going on in secret anyway. I'm willing to try if you are.

Guys,

Try using Vassal to play Midway. The module they have is for the Midway 64
which is the original Midway. It sounds like both of you have that one.
I'm currently using vassal to play Advanced Third Reich online with 3 guys
which has been a blast. We meet 2 time a week for a couple hours which is enough to satisfy the Strategic itch.
