Have ANY other units been recosted and/or given different special abilities other than the ones we already know about?? ??( KT, Tiger, Firefly.....)

I was just filing the Set VI cards and noted the Sdkfz 251 halftrack has been recosted - down to just 6 points!

I think Panzergrenadiers just made a comeback!

you mean SS-PG? 'cause the PG himself is just as horrible as ever isn't he?

The Panzergrenadier SA Mechanised Tactics is suddenly more cost effective - "At the end of your 'Movement Phase', this unit can dismount from a unit with 'Transport'."

the PG is still only 7/5 for 5 points - add a 251 and you are at 11 points -

add only a few points and you get a stug thats more survivaable and shoots better.

If you go for AT capability - take the Pak 38 - 10 points and with overwatch and in cover terrain still better...

run a mechanized inf platoon and an elite platoon. Start with the elites mounted and the standard Panzergrenadiers walking. Turn one, move the SS elites forward adn drop them off, during combat roll back and get ready to pick up the PG. Turn two, mount, move, dismount.

Don't assume that I do Platoons - they are optional...

Your example is one factor I don't like them: Platoons are units that fight as one - you mix the units up as you like thats against the spirit of platoons

Little powergamer you are - are you ;)

Having a battlefield commander (I.e. ME) join two platoon formation or augment a standard platoon formation to obtain my objective (killing you!) is not against the spirit of the game. Of course that's IMHO so I am not trying to be argumentative: just posting my view.

Since OVERWATCH was mentioned, the Expanded rules were in effect. Since they are NOT ala carte (they are not individual optional rules), Platoons become part of the equation.

With the cost of the SD KFZ 251 down to 6 points, I think a better play is the make a mobile MG team with it. 16pts for the German version, 14pts for the Italian version. Coupled with enfilade fire & grazing fire, the attacks can be devastating.

2 SD KFZ250's and 1 SD KFZ 251 are part of a platoon. The SS HF, MG42 and some mausers are part of the another platoon. Starting with 2 Mausers mounted on the 250's and the MG42 on the '251, you can easily start the flanking position (placing your MG at a slant to motivate your opponent to not open himself up to Grazing fire). By the start of combat on turn 2, your front line would be 2 Mausers and 2 standard PG's. The two '250 can used to envelop or protect the flanks with a qucik move during combat. At this point the Mauser/Grenadiers should be throwing dice at +1, the MG team should be in postion to get its doubleshot or Grazing fire going off at +1 to hit as well.

Same thing can be done with the Italian platoon, allowing the Italian officer to supplement the Pak38 with its +1 to hit during OVERWATCH attacks. Adding in a 20mm FlaK or two provides cheap and effective aircover.

Yes, I like the new rules and the opportunities they offer to crush my enemy who is just blindly pushing his pieces to middle of the map. It is pretty amazing how our play group has grown much more tentative about getting infantry base to base with crap infantry like the mauser and Grenadier.
