Question about year limits

I have a question about the Soviet Union Army. You know how Germany invaded Russia in 1943. Can you use Russian units before 1943 on the Axis side? I learned that the Soviet Union was on the Axis side until Adolf Hitler invaded Russia.

Germany invaded Russia in 1941.
German and Russian armies cooperated only in invading Poland in 1939, by the way Germany and the USSR were not allies.

Germany and the Soviet Union cooperated in the 1930's to try and moderndize both countries militaries without going too crazy. The Soviets learned a lot about tank design from the Germans and received large industrial gifts in exchange for room to play war games (Germans planned and played war games in the Soviet Union in the 1930's), raw materials and trade.

Neither viewed each other as allies, rather they chose to keep their enemy close so they better knew what they were planning. The Non agreession pact was to seal the fate of Polan (formal Prussia) and minimize the risk of a two front war when France and the United Kingdom declared war. Meanwhile, the Soviets didn't have the resources in men and material to defend against a German invasion so they agreed. Had they not agreed, likely a non-agression cooperation pact would have be signed with Poland with the intent to get German troops to Russia.

Russia was never part of the Axis, but the were AGAINST the Allies in 1939-1940.

But they are not the only one that could be used on "both sides"; French units, Italian units & Finns (if we ever get them) fought for both sides, and Polish units fought both against and with Russia... China was with the allies, but the Kuomintang was supported by the Western Allies and the Communists were supported by Russia; both Chinese factions fought against each other... The list goes on and on...

With a bit of research you can pretty much see who fought who in what year, if you're into "historicalish" scenarios. Also, there are alot of knowledgeable ppl on these boards...
