If the Western Invader is completely knocked out of the game due to having the entire west coast blockaded by my units, what becomes of his control markers?
Since all of his units are now gone, do the markers go as well?
Or is it assumed that each marker represents a few troops "living off the land" and causing trouble who must still be rooted out?
The rule book is kinda vague and made no reference to this situation.
Game is on hold until Monday, so I will check back for answers soon.
Thanks!

Since you do not have to have units in a territory to maintain control, the markers stay until the territories are attacked. Of course, since the Capture Territories step is after the Supply Check step, no new territories that were attacked by the Invader on the current turn may be claimed.

Yeah, thats what I figured.
Man, its going to take FOREVER to clean up the mess that GrogNADs has made of my country!
Had he not already been hung from the Seattle Space Needle, I would hand him a shovel and make him help with the burial of his dead!

Okay, I just wanted to add to the 'suspender' factor for our game and I'd like some of YOU folks to come up with the 'probability' of the following 'Attacks' that I will have to make on MY own turn. Now, where's that DY guy at when you need him! I'll just 'ask' for the 'Optimum' results that I'd need to continue the game, to make it easier, and that'll mean "What are the 'odds' that Steve can 'get' a '2, 3, or 4'...and NOT HIT ?" Then for myself, "What are the 'odds' that I DON'T MISS! ?" Here's what it'll entail: Seattle~if I am correct, then there is a Hover Tank & Helicopter defending and I'll only have '3' Infantry to Assault it with! L.A.~again, I'm assuming that there will be '2'-Infantry(a Partisan & Infantry) & a Bomber while I'll have '2'-Infantry, '1'-Hovertank, & a Bomber. So if some of you 'number crunchers' are BORED, then this'll give you the chance to "strut your stuff", as it were. Thanks in advance to anyone "up to the task!"

Why does it matter whether or not he owns a territory if he has no units? Are you guys playing with different rules in that regard?

It matters as to how many cities he controls. It also matters in moving US forces whether the spaces are "friendly" or "enemy-held".

:D Well, if you missed it-and how could you-then I managed to 'regain' Seattle and stave off "Ignominious Defeat!" in this 'inaugural' game using the "Strafing Run Games" Variant. I've also updated the PBEM site's map with some corrections-especially the 'Scorpion's' Partisan Card with it's important omission. There was also a plural form for the Battlecry "Remember the Alamos!"-so I 'fixed' that too.

Gotcha. Guess I haven't played it recently enough.

Don't worry about most of US, as we have a tendency to 'exploit' some of the 'newbies' and we're only having 'fun' with you and not at you. Most of the time, we've heard or seen what you 'guys' are 'asking' before so we like to bring on some 'levity' for the others benefit. There have been some very pertinent inquiries that the NEW players have brought up, so don't be afraid to pose any question and remember, the only 'Stupid' question, is one that we've already seen previously, so we just 'have' to make 'fun' of it the second or more, time around.:D

No offence taken. I guess I just assumed that if the western invader was all knocked out, it wouldn't really matter, but I guess the number of cities might, like he said.
