Guadalcanal question

After playing the first game I am wondering. In A&AG is it allowed to attack:

1) land units with just sea and air uits, or do I need to have at least one land unit on an island on which I attack land units?

2) attack naval units with just airunits, or do I need to have naval units in the sea zone that I attack.

Sea and/or air units may attack enemy land units with or without having friendly land units present. They may also attack enemy airfields whether or not there are friendly land units on the island. Air units and/or artillery may attack enemy sea units with or without friendly sea units present.
