World Tank Campaigns
You are a World War II tank commander. Your moment-by-moment decisions determine not only the success or failure of your mission, but whether you and your men live or die. The fates of nations lie in the hands of men like you, and failure is not an option.
In World Tank Campaigns, you lead not only your own tank, but also the units under your command, on exciting and historically accurate missions. Command cards give you the options you need to deal with changing weather and terrain – not to mention the opposition, who’ll use their firepower and position to best advantage against you. Accumulate enough mission points and you’ll succeed, but fail to deploy your resources wisely and you may not only fail, but perish in the flames of war.
Both solo and two-player modes of play.
Card-driven commands, encounters, and terrain.
Created by Streets of Stalingrad designer Dana Lombardy.
Includes four super-detailed World Tank Museum models: King Tiger, Sherman, Panther, and Jagdpanzer IV.

Sounds interesting, but after investing a huge sum of money into Axis and Allies Miniatures, I don't think I want to change.

WW2 isnt just about tanks. Its about combined arms, stubborn infantry, suprise, speed, firepower, and with those last two, tanks. I think a WW2 game with mostly tanks in mind cannot be my kind of WW2 game.

Doesn't look all that impressive, really. I like my wargaming to have lots of minis. That seems directly card driven. Also, from looking up info on it, it's been delayed until next year.

I'd like to see the rules before passing judgment. It would be nice to get away from buckets o dice, though I don't really like card games like UpFront (hello can I PLEASE get a friggin Fire Card so I can shoot back at the guys running across open terrain at me!!!!).

Don't forget its also about...The Spanish Inquisition!:D
But seriously...
I agree, I'd like to check out the rules before passing judgement.
I didn't think Combat Commander Europe and Command and Colors Ancients would be good, with the card driven mechanic, but after playing them I think they both work very well and are great fun.
On the plus side the tank museum pieces are nice.

Hats of to a man that likes a good wargame. Love C&C Ancients, cant wait for the 2 expansions to ship. How are you enjoying Combat Commander? I'm really looking at this game. Its a healthy chunck of change but I'm mighty interested. Kinda Scared that it may prompt me to shelve my AAM if its as good as I've read.

I think this game was originally announced close to a year ago and keeps getting postponed. Last I read, it was scheduled for 2008 but they didn't have a definite date.

It's been put on hold for "redesign." Original release date was October '07, now sometime in '08.
The difficulty with such a game is that it's hard to make every player's position interesting.
Although I'm not a mod, I should point out that the code of conduct prohibits posting links to commercial sites. You can mention them by name but not link to them.

Uhm...lets just say since I've started CC:E, C&C ancients hasn't been played, which is kind of sad as its a good game too. Really it comes down to differant gaming groups and what their focus is IMO. The group I do CC:E with is WWII focused and not all that interested in Ancient battles and we game more consistantly.
We still do AAM but the last couple of months have been Combat Commander with a little AAM thrown in to "do something differant" or we have too many people. The occasional bookshelf game makes an appearance as well and is a welcome change of pace.
CC:E is only 2 players so this also limits when it can be played. AAM is also still good when you have a larger group or your feeling like throwing in some armor, since CCE doesn't use it.
If I had to do it over I would definately buy CC:E again. I am looking at getting the mediterainian and pacific (when it comes out, yes I will be preordering) expansions for it. Well worth the money IMO. It "scratches a differant itch" though so I am not worrying too much about shelving AAM. Other than outside of about 8 players I know of in NE Ohio nobody plays anymore, but thats a differant story. I have been thinking of how to convert my AAM infantry to make CCE a 3-d game. That would get costly though.

Wow! At my FLGS the platoon packs were 20$ for 5 tanks I believe.
Yeah the selection is a little lacking so far. They do look nice though when you figure at 5$ per rare (bargain basement) AAM King tiger it would cost you 25 for 5. Capitalist market at work I guess.
