A&A patch

I am new to the internet gaming scene and would like to play A&A on MSN game zone. I am told I will need the latest patch of the game to do so. I have been unsuccessful in finding it. Could someone lead me there? Thanks a bunch.

I know there were some issues with some "older" network-play DirectX-based games on XP/DX9. I had run across an issue with Age of Empires II where my Win98 machines could not connect to a game hosted on WinXP, and vice-versa. Apparently some modifications were made to DirectPlay (multiplayer gaming module for DirectX) where the network protocol was changed with either XP or DX9.

Also, if you're running a firewall (software or hardware), you may want to check out the following article as it indicates which ports on the firewall you need to "open" to allow network play.

Your firewall vendor should have documentation on how to open these ports.
