I just ordered my first case, so I should be able to answer this myself in a few days, but...
What is the biggest current unit in 39-45?
I just got a Pershing and it's huge compared to my previous 14 tanks.

If the units were correctly scaled the Sturmovik should be the biggest unit in 1939-1945, but AFAIK they made the planes too small - Please wizard rescale the planes - they simply look weird compared to the Maxi Tanks

If the aircraft are scaled properly, we would end up paying for bigger boxes.
The biggest mini should be the heavy tanks -- the Tiger 2's nearly 3 inches long by 1.5 inch wide, before we start counting the barrel...

Not necessarily - simply cast the wings separately and let the customer fix them...
Wrong scaled planes are just looking stooopid when put on the table with the new MAXIS

IMHO correctly scaled planes would look weird. I can't think of any game that uses planes in the same scale as the other units ... what a fuss about nothing.
(PS I also assume you expect them to be on a base with a correctly scaled operational height? ;) )

The planes look smaller cause when you look up from the ground...you see a small plane coming at you. They are scaled correctly from that perspective...

Please Please no more requests to WOTC for rescaling... eeek what's this the start of A&A 3.0?

No I don't look up from the ground - I look down from above, so planes should be bigger actually...

I think you really need to consider the issue more closely.
Below is the AAM Stuka from the old set (which should be the same scale as the '39 - '45 set) next to a 1/144 Stuka:

That's a 1/144 Stuka. Smaller than the current (IIRC) 1/100 scale vehicle miniatures. To make them in the same scale would make them bigger than in the photo, so big that they would actually get into the way on tables.

Actually that is exactly what I want...
If we have a game that uses the same scale for all units then all units should HAVE the same scale...
As I only had the Firefly at hand, i used it as comparable unit...
lenght 6 cm actual 5,89 meters = 1/98
height 2,5 cm actual 2,62 meters = 1/105
width 2,6m actual 2,75 meters = 1/106
apply that to the stuka
length 11,1m becomes 11,3 cm
height 3,9m becomes 3,7 cm
width (´wing - later version) 15,0m becomes 14,2 cm
Thats just fine (just about the diameter of only 2 hexes)
;)

okay, I'm piping in n this one: 1/100 planes, though cool to get, would be WAY to huge to be playable in the game. You'd actually want them that big for gameplay???

he has a point though. I said the same thing 3 months ago. it looks pretty odd when your 1:100 scale Jadgpanther gets blown apart by a 1:244 scale Mustang.

What about a King Tiger being blown to bits by a bunch of Canadian Munchkins??? Little People, Big Tank.
I'm glad that I game with 1/32 21stCenturyToys pieces - EVERYTHING is 1/32 and they're putting out a Marder II and a Pnzr 38. There's also Chinese infantry and a FW-190A coming out soon.
21st makes some nice 1/144 airplanes as well. They just released a 2 pack that has Saburo Sakai's Zero and a Dauntless. I like that Dragon Stuka - i've got about 5 different ones.

So you finally started playing with the new scale then. Good for you .. :D

I should say "it would look odd". I don't own a 15mm Jagdpanther.

Hey, the Royal Canadian Halfling Rifles and the King's Own Dwarven Fusiliers were two of our most decorated regiments. :D

I love it!!! :)
With all this hype about 2.0 being better and all, it makes you wonder why they did this again to the Canadians. I understand not having the Japanese AT gun and British 6 pounder in Set I so that they MIGHT be corrected but this is just crazy. INFANTry??? I thought that only Germany used young men towards the end of the war - not Canada.

OK, but I guess I'll just have to wait for my case to answer the question.
Another scale problem...

I think the biggest tank in the set may be the IS-2 (it's the only one I don't have yet). Otherwise, it is the Tiger I.

Tiger II's bigger than the IS-2. It's probably the biggest piece in the set.

Whoops! That's what I meant. As I said, I don't have the IS-2 yet, but the Tiger II is a beast. I'm not surprised it's bigger.

My storage solution was originally based on the smaller armor. I got my case today, so hopefully I have a better sample to work from.

Have fun with the booster ripping. :)
Do you rip from the top or the bottom?

I hadn't thought of it before, but I'm a top ripper. I did one from the bottom and it sent infantry flying across the room.
Overall, the case was a good haul, but I'm still light on German armor - no King Tiger, no Tiger, no Panzer IV, no Brummbar. Aaaargh!
At this rate, the Reich won't last through the winter.
