I've heard a lot of mention of rangers and SS Panzergrenadiers being recosted to 7 points but I have not seen any official announcements. Can any one confirm this or are these just rumors?
Another question. I play with a friend who insists that the hero restriction is one hero for every 100 points. I was sure It was more than this( I seem to remember 1 per 250 points) but I have not found the article where they discussed the change. Can anyone give me a link?
The last thought was:
Isn't it time for another Errata update since one has not been done since shortly after the D-day Release?
I know that this jumps around a bit but I had a lot of topics and did not feel the need for 3 seperate threads about them.

Alright, well the recost of the Ranger and SS-Panzergrenadier is written in the "Important Clarifications" section of the AAM Q&A, right here:
http://boards.avalonhill.com/showpost.php?p=267404&postcount=16
Also, under Advanced Rules, there is a limit of 1 hero per army (again, this can be found in the Important Clarifications section)
http://boards.avalonhill.com/showpost.php?p=178520&postcount=15
As for the official errata well... yeah it could have used an update since then, but a quick look in the Q&A section here and it solves a lot of issues :)

The "Expanded Rules" available for purchase allows for 2 "specials", which includes heros, partisans, paratroops etc... plus lots of other very useful rules such as enfilade, overwatch and revised plane rules. The print quality of the booklet is poop, but the concepts and maps are worth the price of admission for me. You also get scenarios and platoons- which are a great concept for the game. There had been much griping (surprise) about the Expanded Rules here on the boards, but its a solid purchase if you can overlook bad print.

I don't know about your cards but my SSPG and Ranger cards shows that they are 5 points to use and that's how we play them - 5 points.
Yesterday I faced 5 SSPGs, 1 Hampster, 2 SS Stormtroopers, and 3 Elite Pnzr IVDs and killed every last one of them with the help of 1 RD Capt, 5 Garands, 1 105 Sherman, 1 quad 50 halftrack, 1 BAR, 2 JEEPs, 12 point mortar, and 2 flamethrower units. After the battle, I had the 105, quad 50 HT, 2 Garands, 2 JEEPs, and the BAR gunner. All of the SSPGs were 5 points, battle done on 2" hex maps (map #2) and with no ERs.
We had two other battles that involved me facing 5 SSPGs in one and 5-7 Vet Wehr Infantry - the first with Mosins, Commie, 2 KVs and the second with SMLEs, UK Hero, 1 Vickers, and 2 Crocs.
Wizards needs to actually make the cards with new costs or I'm not using it as most people that play the game around here don't come to the forum let alone post anything. So, 5 points each.

Thank you, I am aware of the expanded rules. (I own a copy) I'm aware of the 2 specials in the expanded rules but I was sure there was a ruling limiting heros shortly after their use at gencon 2006

Thank you that is the official post I was looking for regarding sspg and rangers recost.
However I am aware of the text in the expanded rules but I thought there was a errata after gencon that changed the hero restrictions. Somthing like one hero for every X number of points. Am I imagining this?

The "suggestion" was to limit heroes to one per five-hundred points.
The only official mention of a limit is a hard and absolute "limit one" in the Standard Floor Rules (http://www.wizards.com/dci/downloads/AAM_FLR_18aug06.pdf). Since the SFR dates back to August 2006, it's safe to assume the Expanded Rules limit of two "special units" per hundred points supersedes it, at least in venues that use the Expanded Rules.

Rules lawyering here: expandedrules are optional, so they do NOT automatically supersede older rules, but if the Turneament supreme jude allows the expanded rules (some or all) they are perfectly legal...

Re coasting the PG is just stupid. This is the only German infantry that is worth a Sh*t! And now they pull this!!!!! You have got to be kidding me! I will not use this new ruling . They cost 5pts and that is it!!!!!!!!!!

Ok....well... give it a try, still :) It's not like it'll unbalance your game That much and even though it was met with reticence by some, when it was first announced many months ago, it actually ended up being a good thing by most people's opinion :)

Mausers and Wehrmacht veteran Infantry are both effective units. It just takes a little more effort to put them to good use.

Especially don't unerestimate the Suppressing Fire on the WVI - great unit - I leked it even before the cost change, but now this one is on par with the SSPG

The 2-point pop is irrelevant. While one of the best builds possible used to be 15xSSPG, now one of the best builds possible is 14xSSPG.
All this increase did really was make SNLF Fanatic and SSST more useful by comparison by no longer being "why not just use SSPG?" units.

I couldn't agree more with the above statement. The two point bump just makes the SNLF fanatic, IMHO, the best infantry piece in the game.
If they have any smarts at all, they'll leave the 5 defense infantry out of V 2.0.

At present, how many German tanks are effective against the Ranger, or any 5 defense soldier.:)

There is no way to put them back into pandoras box - OR they start BANNING certain units, but that would be another step towards the end of the game
BTW _ I nerver found the 5/5s so unbeatable as some of you think...

They aren't unbeatable. What they do is make other units in the game uncompetitive. Units that stop 5 defense soldiers are just brutal against the 4 defense soldiers.

But not reissuing 5/5 guys does not unmake 5/5 guys.
They still exist. Merely forgetting they do means new players will have sharply limited access to them, which makes those new players reluctant to be players for very long.
The only alternatives would be spot-bans (which Richter explained), or a Type-Two style blanket ban of sets 1-5, which would be several nails in the coffin instead.

Ah yes, the 5 defense soldier dilemma...
They've already asked all the previous players to repurchase all of their vehicles in the "name" of moving forward. Why not toss a few soldiers on the scrap heap as well? At least this would actually make sense.
