Sorry if this has been answered before but, what is the scale of the
39-45' booster set. I have looking in both the advanced rules and the
quick start guide (starter box). If I have overlooked it please refer to
a page. I am interested in knowing by increasing the hexes from 2 to
3", did that increase the terrain hex size.

thanks in advance

Jim

The scale average is 15mm.

Hm, I don't know what you looked, or if you looked hard enough, but "15mm scale" is printed all over the booster packs and the rulebooks :)

Also, the "terrain hex size" changed from being 2" hexes to 3" hexes, as you mentionned. So... yeah, it was increased :) Maps are bigger overall, but don't necessarily takes more space to play since some setups are played on a single map (as opposed to only having 2-maps configurations before).

The 3" single-maps configuration ends up taking a bit less space on the kitchen table as before, but the 2-maps configurations (and the 3-maps, of course) takes more.

Thanks for the replies. I did not fully explain what scale I was
looking for. For example:
1. Each Inf figure represents: ie, squad, platoon, etc.
2. Each tank/vehicle represents: ie, 2-3 tanks, platoon size, etc.
3. Each 3" hex represents: ie, 100m, 200m, etc.
4. Each turn is roughly what time duration

I did know the 39-45' vehicle is closer to 15mm than the first
set, with aircraft being not 15mm.

thanks

Soldier figures represent a squad, or 4-5 men.
Tanks figures represent individual tanks on the battlefield.
Each hex represents 100 or 200 meters I believe.....someone shout out please.
And each game including all turns represents less than an hour of real time.
Not sure about the exact number of minutes per turn real time though....

In the very first Advanced Rules book 2005 pg. 10. I can not find it in the other rule books.
Vehicles: Represents 1 vehicles
Soldiers: Represents several soldiers
Map: 1 hex is about 100m, or about 1/2000
Turn: 1 turn is about 1 minute

Sorry, I did find it in the Advanced Rules book for 2006 pg.10 also. It's the same thing but they added Aircraft: 1/240

2 soldiers on a base means 2 soldiers. 0 soldiers on a base means 3 or 4 soldiers. 1 soldier on a base represents 6 soldiers... unless it is a sniper or hero than it is 1 soldier or if he is operating a mortar in which case he is 2 or 3 soldiers.

Does that help?

An alternative take:
One soldier on a base = one little plastic man.
One vehicle = one little plastic vehicle.
One hex = a polygon with six sides.

It's great to see new people in the game and on the boards, but struggling to find realism in this game led to a minor exodus of heavy wargamers about a year ago.

Play the game for the game.

I have been playing this game since it started. It was never in scale then and is not in scale now ( I.E. planes, infantry). I don't see the point about it all. The figs simply represent a unit, 'no more no less'. Besides I refuse to "Sh** can" thousands of dollars worth of old figs to match the new ones ;)
