Neural Dream's Custom Cards: Royal Navy (Battleships & Cruisers)

This time the Battleships, Battlecruisers, Light Cruisers and Heavy Cruisers of the Royal Navy.

Plz give me feedback on as many ships as you wish, since these were the most difficult cards to produce and I may very easily have made mistakes.

These are freakn awesome! I've taken the liberty to print them on card stock and laminated them with acetate. Just before I laminated them I added hull boxes to them and now we can keep track of damage with a dry-erase marker or grease pencil right on the cards. Works fabulous! Great job.

I've given the Range-5 to the two ships that IMO deserved it. Warspite and Gneisenau (http://boards.avalonhill.com/showthread.php?p=320872 for the German Navy or just look at my sig's links). We can argue about the fact that several other ships could have achieved the 25km range if they needed it, but IMO the spirit of the game is to reward the Ships with an SA that reflects their achievements, even if they couldn't reach them consistently and even if technically they wouldn't be the only ones that could reach them.

Range 3 secondaries for the Repulse when all she had was triple WWI 4" guns? LOL

I definitely would've given the Queen Elizabeth and Revenge classes Vital Armor 14 as they predated the "all or nothing" style armor introduced in Nevada. And they don't merit having Torpedo Defense due to the losses of Barham and Royal Sovereign to U-boats. AA 8 for the Revenge class while AA 7 for the Queen Elizabeths doesn't make a lot of sense. Switch the two probably. If anything only Queen Elizabeth, Valiant, and also Renown should have AA 8, as they were the only ones completely refited with twin 4.5" HA guns.

The Renown class should be Armor 6/12/5, as they only had 1" more armor than the Kongos when the new belts were added, nowhere near the protection of the Scharnhorst. And torpedos should probably be 2/1, as there were only 6 tubes in fixed mounts per side.

lol, I knew there was something I had forgotten to upload!! Yup, I've done the KGV class, but for some reason forgot to upload it. Wait till I go home tonight and I'll do that too.

Until then plz keep commenting on the cards, so that I fix any inaccuracies. This was a pretty difficult set of cards and I may have made more mistakes than the ones already identified.

As I mentioned already, the Carriers will be included in the third and final part of the Royal Navy cards. Soon.



About the revenge and QE class what do you think of the Armour values?
7/14/5 or 7/15/5?

What about the KGV class?
9/16/5?

I understand spirit of the game but Yamato had the biggest guns in the world and has ER4. She has that cause she couldn't hit water at that range with any accuracy at all.

Iowa has ER5 cause even thought she couldn't fire shells as far as Yamato could she had a much better chance of hitting a target at her max range.


BUT........


She did score one hit that was the longest in history, but it was with one shell but I could see ER5 for that I guess.

I would do 8/14/5 for both the Revenge and Queen Elizabeth.

9/15/5 for KGV.

For Belfast and Edinburgh I think they should have seconadaries, as they had the same broadside of a Prinz Eugen, 6 4" guns per side. Their main armament should also match the Boise, without the Rapid Fire, so 9/8/8/7.

For the Fijis I would suggest something a little more radical;

HMS Fiji 1940 (11 Ships)
Cruiser Speed 2
Main: 9/8/8/7
Torpedos: 2/2/1
AA: 6
Armor 3/9/3
Torpedo Defense 1
(5 of the ships survived single torpedo hits)

No secondaries since they only had 4 4" guns per side.

AA value suggestion:

The Queen Elizabeth and the Valiant were given 10 twin 4.5" DP mounts versus 4 twin 4" AA for the Warspite and others of the class. I think QE and Valiant should have the 8 and Warspite the 7. I think they had similar numbers of light AA mounts.

Wonderful job on the card with the photos.

On KGV class, there were not tertiary guns. They has a secondary battery of 8 twin 5.25" dp automatic mounts. Shouldn't the AA be an 8 and not a 7?

Just to let you know that I have finished my work on the Royal Navy. Over 150 units including aircraft carriers, subs and navy aircraft. You'll find it in the new community-based forum we started in http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/index.php and this is where I'll be posting all my new cards from now on. Next will be the Italian Navy, which should be ready before Christmas, at least a significant part of it :D.
