In my experience a concerted Allied effort in the Pacific makes for longer more interesting games than the standard KGF Strategy.

Most of my KJF (and Japanese Containment) games have ended up lasting well into the Fifties, and since the Allies can never really ignore Germany to the extent that they might elect to ignore Japan, both fronts in these games tend to be more active and dynamic.

I was just wondering what everyone else's experience has been. Setting aside for the moment the focus on "winning strategies," which do you think makes for a more enjoyable game:

1. KGF (Kill Germany First) ?
2. KJF (Kill Japan First) ?

ANy other thoughts on the matter?

IMHO, the balanced approach from the Allies makes for the best games, which is not too terribly far off from KJF. The problem is, the Allies have this choice. The Axis choices, if they're really trying to win, are much more limited :(

In my experience, KJF is an easy strategy to pull off in Revised and makes for a short game. Japan is much more vulnerable than Germany and once one falls, the other follows.

You are so right. Maybe the Axis should get an IPC bonus at the start of the game to help them out. An economic win could have been left in as it is hard to obtain. The justification for leaving it out was with boosted IPC values for Germany and Japan they didn't need it. The Allies combined still make 27 % more IPCs than the Axis from the start. 26 IPCs equate to 5 more tanks per round of play. The Axis have to worry more about attrition and that was what the real war was about. A war of attrition the Axis cannot win. If you want the Axis to have more of a chance against the Allies it wouldn't be historical anymore. It would be a fantasy war game. The game should have began at Pearl Harbor and what happens after that is up to fate. The countries would not have as much territory and makes conquering them more important. There would be a race to the Pacific as there were still islands to be had. Or maybe it should have began with the invasion of Poland Sept. 1,1939. The US could use their IPCs to supply the UK and Russia with planes and tanks and ships. The US lend lease would be limited to about half of their IPC value. After a predetermined amount of rds (probably around 5) the US is Pearl Harbored and can fully enter into the war.
