I've scanned these boards in brief (I usually haunt the R2210 boards) and haven't seen reference to this question, so pardon me if it's in the archives (we have game in progress as I type).

When an attacker attacks, and uses bombers in "above" attack mode (i.e., they are put RIGHT IN the territory being attacked), what happens when the defender rolls a 1 for a defending aerial unit and disengages a bomber?

At this point we are reading the rules to the letter, and the bomber stays in the territory upside down, it cannot attack, nor can it move during second movement.

SO.....

If you FAIL to take the territory.... the bomber is destroyed then, yes?

Fortress America

When a bomber above a territory is disengaged, it cannot attack, but if you do not move other units into the territory during second movement, neither can it stay there, so it must move away to one of your territories. It still gets its full movement range to do this though.

I think this is addressed on the back of the reference card that came with my version.

DOH! Thanks Masta B... we didn't even THINK to look on the back of the Quick Ref card. NEVER looked at it, in fact!!

Thanks much, helps a lot. :)
