Has anyone bought this, and if so what do you think of it so far?

Are you talking about Warcraft- the "Boardgame"? Yeah...I own it...it is pretty good! Matter of fact there is an expansion coming out next month which will include "Creeps/monsters", water hexes, hero pieces/ tiles, more scenarios and terrain hexes, and more/updated experience cards too!.... should be better than original IMHO!- (you can download the rules online at fantasyflightgames. com)
....I think they couldv'e of done the "pieces" a bit better (They are like A Game of throne pieces with wooden "abstract" pieces)...Like they did with Doom- the board game, they should've made plastic minis with the expansion set...but that's just me!- ;)

No, its a new pc game made by Blizzard, they made the Diablo games and have a reputation for quality . They just released WOW today, it looks like a cross between Everquest and Diablo. It looks good but has a monthly subscription fee for online play. I would like some details before spending the money. Thanks for your reply.

WOw- did not hear about that one! Is it a "F irst P erson S hooter"? hmmm....interesting! What is the full name for it? (World of Warcraft?)
....OK- I just checked it out...it looks like another "Online-RPG"! Just another ploy to have people spend thier money monthly! I think I will just wait for the boardgame expansion and save my money (monthly)!- :p

Hey holyman, I loved the PC game...how similar is the boardgame to the PC game?
And I saw the back of the box....Dude those pieces SUCK!!!
That is what kept me from even reading what it was all about!!

Well...at first I wasn't too crazy on the pieces but they "grow" on you. (They pretty much get the job done)
As far as the "Boardgame" to PC value: well...the first/basic game does a pretty good job of catching the 'feel' of the PC game but I felt it fell a bit short. The expansion seems (after reading the rules online) to be a far better flavor of the PC game with heros, creeps/ neutral monsters, water tiles, more realistic gold/wood gathering options, etc. I think the expansion will enhance this game tremendously! (Should be out this Dec. according to FFGames)-

Sounds like something I would like to have in my "stocking" this X-mas...but dude, those pieces....I mean, I remember archers, dragons, and exploding dwarfs...those pieces looked nothing like that!
As a matter of fact....those pieces looked like something a 3 year old would play with!!! Thanks but no thanks!!

My friend was at a special release Monday evening/Tuesday morning (12:00 midnight) with some of the Blizzard folks in attendance. From what I understand they were expecting around 500, but about 5000 showed up. The line wrapped around the building (Fry's Electronics) twice. The newspaper printed a story about it. Apparently they started turning people away around 10:30 because someone had done a count and realized that there were too many people for their 3500 copies. Alienware was giving out a tricked-out machine, and a local radio station was doing some giveaways.
My friend said he ended up being 890th in line, and finally got to purchase his copy around 1:30am. Apparently Blizzard was overwhelmed, and had not setup enough servers to handle the load. As a result, some people had to wait to play for over three hours (it's an on-line only game).
I'm personally not into the Massively Multiplayer On-line Role-Playing Games (MMORPG's), but I have heard World of Warcraft (WoW) is highly anticipated. So far the reviews (once you can get to play) are pretty good. My friend is pretty satisfied with gameplay despite the frustration of the initial rush to play.

I'll admit my guilty pleasure in the game. I just had a copy given to me as an early Christmas present.
The graphics are very cartoonish, and in some cases what the PC characters do is kind of childish. If you don't know what I mean, make a night elf female and leave it on the screen for a few moments and watch it. You'll figure it out ;)
On the bright side (pun intended) the game is very colourful and very immersive. The cultures are believable. I'm playing a Tauren, which are very 'native' in feeling. The quests cater to the type of Player character you are playing in most cases.
Blizzard has a great sense of humor and includes a lot of 'funnies' to get a kick over. An example is that with a command your character can tell a joke. Some of them are very funny. Some aren't. Each race (and gender) has a seperate dance. Tauren females do the 'Lord of the Dance' style line dance, whereas the male Tauren do the 'Peanut butter Jelly Time' dance. (if you don't know what that is, consider yourself blessed).
In my opinion WoW has a lot of the same old things other games have. It's a simple game, easy to learn (which is nice, there is no tutorial). The intro cut scene's are fabulous and worth watching multiple times. The game is bright and cheerful and yes very easy to loose oneself in for more then a few moments each sitting.
On the downside, the game seems maybe a little too easy. If you know any MMORPG strategy (other then kiting) you can pretty much get out of most situations alive. As with all other new games on the market, you can for the most part effectively solo for regular experience, but major quests and events require a group of friends.
Since I'm getting long winded, I'll end there. I am personally enjoying the fresh game world that is WoW. But I'm much more eagerly awaiting the release of D&D Online. ;)
