Our gaming group played A&AR a lot when it came out, using the NAs and thinking that the 8 VC game stronger favoured the Axis and anything more, strongly favouring the Allies. We gave the game a break and we have yet to find the time to try some new ideas, but one was to create a 9 VC game with Cairo, Sydney, Capetown and Rio as 0.5 VCs. Has anyone tried this or something similar? We are thinking of testing it in the new year anyway, but we want to keep changes to a minimal.
We're thinking the above - would give the Axis more to go for - not just LEN, CAL and RUS as the obvious choices - (but more to defend) - and although the longer the game the more it favours the Allies, there would be a greater emphasis on the economics (especially with Britain having to think about which parts of the empire to invest in - and not just pumping 3 tanks into India) and the USA could be more involved straight off. What are peoples views on this?

PaschatKing, if you check out the board here well, you'll see that there have been many proposals to increase the amount of victory cities, or to either change their positions. If I'm correct, there has been a poll around which showed that 75% of the people here voted for Sydney, Honolulu and Stalingrad as additions to the current victory setup.
Honolulu and Sydney give Japan other options than the boring race to moscow as we are all familiar with for so long: Now the game can be more historical correct as well as more exciting pacific action: the USA will have to do something in the pacific with this setup.
There have also been ideas to make Cairo a victory city, but pointed out to be an easy a target for Germany to capture and hold, if i'm correct....

if you add those extra VC's, you now must create a new Victory condition: 10 VC's. So the game becomes a 10/15 VC game.
There's a dramatic change in game dynamics if you do this. Moscow is NOT the only target then. The Axis are very strong in this game as well.

Thanks Scipio... I must admit that I stole it from someone else on another board... I had to laugh about it for a long while as well :D
But I still don't know what that "thing" really is...
