View Full Version : Most important Zone in Europe
Inspired by polls in the past, I was arguing which Territories or sea zones are vital to control for a victory in Europe. If I missed one, tell me.

Germany would be my top vote getter for without it the war is soon to be over. Of course this applies to Russia, or England as well. :D

What round is it?
What Allied game plan is being run?
What Axis game plan is being run?
and that's just the big three variables.........
I voted West Russia since it touches 6 land territories. No other territory touches as many land squares.

West Russia, for Russia, gives them the triple-threat dead zone. They can put the hurt on Germany and keep sniping at weakly defended provinces that Germany cannot defend against one big force.
The same holds true for Germany, as West Russia is their double-threat position. Do I go to Caucuses, or do I go to Moscow. Russia has to defend MOS and without a good counterattack in hand (for the Russians), this means that Germany can walk into Caucuses.

I think the baltic sea is a very important square on the Western Front. As long as the Germans control it strongly, the Allies can't do much to hurt and Germany can drop infantries to help the northern front. Furthermore, the Axis keeps threathening the UK while there. But as soon as it's cleared, Germany hes to defend a terrible number of spaces including its capital and of course, the UK can unleash all the forces on the island as it is more likely that the Germans don't have any fleet threatening it.
On the Eastern front, for both russia and germany, taking and holding bielorussia indicates that your side is slowly wining the war as when you control it, the enemy often has no strong control over Leningrad and the Ukraine.
Of course, caucasus, italy, france or a capital are the most important, but giving that answer is like answering the following question:
"What's your best trick when you play chess?" , "Uh... let me see  , I like to checkmate the other guy. When I do it, I win all the time!" Not a very pertinent thing to know... ;)

I agree with Herr General, the baltic sea is extremely important for the Germans to keep in their possession and not to let the allies keep it. If the allies take it then they could drop in infantry to act as blocking units to stop the german tanks from moving two moves through Eastern Europe to karelia or belorussia. I usually buy tons of tanks so the baltic sea is very important to myself.
