Bite omen card question

When the Bite omen card is drawn, does the player being attacked get a defensive might roll, just like a regular attack? And is physical damage handled the same as a regular attack? Why doesn't this card get discarded after it is used? It seems that this should be an event card rather than an omen card.

1) You would still roll your "defense" rolls...anything in access, you would take that amount physical damage.

2) Good point...but I think it is ONLY used as an Omen Card just to determine what scenario is presented when the "Haunt Roll" is made.

It's not discarded after it's drawn because the game uses 'current omen cards shown' as a way of determining when the haunt starts. If you discarded the bite after it happens, you have a chance of forgetting about it every time someone makes a haunt roll.
