My friends and I recently came across a matter of debate in one of our games. If the traitor ends up with the bell, and successfully makes the sanity roll of 5+, does he get to move as many heros as he wants in his direction?

The text on the card states, "5+ Move any number of heroes 1 space closer to you." and makes no mention of whether or not the traitor is allowed to use this items to move his enemies against their will.

This is an especially powerful ability, especially in the scenarios where players have penalties or benefits for starting their turns in certain rooms, or in scenarios where the enemies are trying to avoid the traitor.

We don't think that Avalon Hill intended for the bell to be used in this manner, but there's nothing on the card to prevent the traitor from 'calling' the heroes to their death. Can anyone clear this up for us?

(On a similar note, the bell could also be used to move each of the monsters one extra space. This isn't quite as powerful as moving the heroes, but is still extremely useful. On the other hand, it certainly makes more sense for the monsters to listen to and come running towards the bell than the heroes to do so.)

I don't have the card text in front of me, but if that's what it says, I'd be inclined to let the Traitor do it. It is a powerful advantage for the Traitor, but I think it could also add an extra layer of desperate struggle to the Heroes' plight. Horror movies are, after all, largely about tryin' and dyin'.
