I just got the game for Christmas and played it once. Being giddy when I got the game, I punched out all the little pieces. Looking back, I should have left them unpunched until I needed particular pieces for certain Haunts. So now I have a little Tupperware full of hundreds of little cardboard pieces. My question is if there is a way to organize the pieces so I won't have to dig through them for each Haunt, while at the same time not having to read the haunts before hand to ruin the suprise. I hope this makes sense.

One thing I've thought of doing is starting to make a list of which pieces are used in each haunt (as I encounter each one). Then, combining that with the inventories that have been posted at boardgamegeek of all the pieces and their colors, use that to help find them a bit easier. I currently have all mine separated by color, which is a good start.

i use ziploc plastic bag sandwitch format and after that i often separate them by categories or colors, its works quick and fine.

If you go to the Boardgamegeek website and do a quicksearch for Betrayal at House on the Hill, you'll find that someone from these forums has done all of us a great service and posted a complete counter index. (I would thank our benefactor by name, but I can't find the thread or credit: wherever you are, I've thanked you before and thank you again. You've really been a lifesaver during game sessions.)

Using the counter index makes sorting much easier. Our group sorts by size/color/shape -- the counter index includes these details, so you can look at the index page and then grab the appropriate baggie.

Hope this helps.

I've got about a hundred little (about 2-by-3 inches) zip-lock bags (you can pick 'em up at Wal-Mart for like two bucks) and I sort the pieces according to what seems reasonable. I'll see if I can post my particular arrangement later this afternoon...

I think that the color coding is really enough. If I remember correctly, orange is animals, green is plants, pale blue is ghosts, etc. If you know the color, it is easy to pick out the right one, even if they're all in a pile together.

I have stapled all the pieces on my body, for easy access. When its time to locate a piece, I stand in front of a mirror and rip the token off.. by golly .. .there it is. Easy, quick and affordable.

Actually the little seperater thingy that comes with the game works really well for me. If you put a piece of thick tape (like masking tape) where the seam is leading from one part to another the tokens cant slide under and get seperated...just dont turn the box upside down :D

There just aren't enough of the little pockets. Ziplocks work so much better ;).

I seperate them by color, all the grey tokens go in one, and all the blobs go in with monsters. It works for me but as they say to each his own =)
