Looks like this grudge match is under way... Okay, DocD, couldn't have asked for a better opening as the Axis, let's see what you got :)

pagan, as far as pics, I'll send you a quick PM on how I do them.

Okay guys, looking forward to a nice, clean fight. Hey DocD, after pagan beats you, can I have your watch? :D Just kidding buddy, best of luck :)

What were the expected results. Only 1 hit defense in Ukraine is low.

Germany:6inf, 1arm, 2subs.
NA-AfriKa Corps

Germany gets the ole shaft on turn 1 from the Motherland. The Generals begged me not to pull back from the Ukraine....but a good leader knows when to retreat when!

Thanks Pagan for getting CJ to spruce up AfriKa Corps. Just landed Rommel some reinforcements. Let the March to India begin!

Tranny killed my UBoat in seazone 1...ouchie. But German bombers razed London to good effect.

Oh, and did I mention no siege this year for Leningrad....they all spreche deutsch!

And oh yeah...for UK....can they say Convoy raid losses! :D

oepning moves for UK combats. Since their outcomes are probably the most crucial of the game I will show them via picture.

You can judge for yourself if I'm strectching it for UK or not

Down in the mediteranean:

Not to forget Japan:

#3: UK DD vs JP TN

#4: UK SS vs JP SS

pagan
01-15-2005, 10:49 AM
OUTCOMES:

#1. fight into Norway: 3:1 hits , uk takes Norway soundly

#2a. Med ocean: BB+FTR vs BB+TN , its a wash - all dead (uk victory?)

#2b. AES: 3INF+1BMR vs 2ARM , 2:2 , uk wins

#3. Kwangtung : DD vs TN , 1:0 , uk wins

#4. solomon islands : SS vs SS , no hits , submerge

That's precisely why you need a bid, DocD.

After G1, you want at the bare minimum 3 units in Egypt, ideally at least 4. This will either defeat a UK retake, cost UK expensive aircraft, or deter the attack altogether.

Holding Egypt is important as it saves your tanks, and allows you to take 3-4IPCs from UK on G2, IPCs they can't get back. Now you've lost your tanks and your push through Africa is slowed (not only by losing the tanks, but also by having to retake Egypt).

An extra 1-2 units bid in Libya gives you a much higher chance of holding Egypt (can now bring 5-6 ground units in on G1)

did germany not attack uk bb in sz13 on g1? if not that is very strange opening

pagan
01-15-2005, 11:12 AM
my 'unattacked BB' almost lived.

first attack was 2:1 , (im thinking uk gets to keep a BB?:) ) , then 0:1 (ok there we go..:( ) , then 1:1

had his BB missed even once, I would have been able to keep my fighter, but alas africa loses a combat piece.... in exchange for anything more coming from germany...

So what's going on now in the game?

DocD
01-15-2005, 09:57 PM
Well Pagan. I may have gravely underestimated you (and the dice!).
My dream for a German African colony has been slowed. I didn't expect you to play so aggressive with the UK....hope it pays off for you.

Yes, CJ, I see your point about the bid. I'm still against it though. Against equal players (and I would like to think pagan and I are at least that!), I still think it is a scam. But I tell you what...if Pagan brutalizes me too bad, I think I will ask for it in our game. :)

Yes Love, I totally brain funked it on that UK BB. One can expect to lose a fighter over it, but I left mine in the hangers in Paris. DUH! Unfortunately, my med fleet paid for it.
I tell you what though, losing that Uboat to a tranny hurt worst. And of course Pagan twisted it in my back with that amphib against Norway.

Well series, Japan's PHII went as expected....sorta....had to go back and roll for detection. China is Japanese now.
My good odd attack against India got shot down...literally! 3 fighters and 2 JPN inf vs his 2 inf. AA nails 2 of my fighters right off the bat. Barely escaped with one!

Needless to say, things looking bad for the Furher Tojo. DocD fans....put away your cash....please! :(

pagan
01-15-2005, 10:23 PM
well, series I am being aggressive, because the door was open to do so.

I am trying to get the upper hand early so that bad dice can't affect me as much.

DocD --> I think you judged me a poor player DocD, and although I'm screwing around a bit with CJ, I don't think you should judge that me from it.

I do think that all three of these guys are VERY good players: TomJag, Axis_Roll, Cousin Joe

you asked for this game to knock me down a notch. And your next opponents (above) are better rehearsed in this 'enhanced' format. I'm still learning.

I do plan on winning. Hopefully you help me make that happen !

I wish you the worst of luck! Cheerio!

If you allow a counter in Egypt (4 or less Axis units left) AND you lose your Mediterranean navy you have no chance.

I would say in Enhanced (or even in revised) that's not necessarily true as I've seen a very agressive Germany look very good by pressuring USSR early and often. It's not an easy path, but it's still possible. Germany would have to buy almost entirely all ground units right out of the gate and get after USSR on G1.

However, in this game between DocD and Pagan, I think the obituaries are being written for the axis as I type...

pagan
01-16-2005, 12:48 PM
Its only turn 1 guys.

There's a lot of game left including 2 more NAs for the axis.

Japan just built some tranys and is getting ready for his asia units placements.

Germany has a navy in the baltic: 4SS + DD + TN , this is nothing to laugh at when we are dealing with economic damage.

Germany with having 3 units left on africa will focus on russia. He also gets his pick out of alot of good NAs to help him.

there you go.

I hate making STUPID errors like that.

germany takes UK

pagan
01-16-2005, 01:16 PM
Whether I conceed or not will be based on Norway.

If UK cannot take back UK on its turn then 2 full rounds without a purchase for UK + the huge income increase for germany will not be recoverable.

A mistake is a mistake. It sucks when it happens to you. Its great when you can use it against someone else.

Good job DocD.

Leaving UK inadequately defended is an easy mistake to make but is just one of things people can occasionally forget about.

Looks like we might be seeing a DocD vs. pagan Part II :D

This just in true believers.....London has fallen!!!....I repeat...London has fallen!!! German SS troops are marching on #1 Downing Street as we speak!! Wait...there is a message coming in from the Fuhrer.....

"...We will like to discuss surrender terms as soon as possible with the Allies. This was a hard fought victory, engaged in only to prevent further bloodshed. We will await the Allied reply...."

It may be a little too early to celebrate. Oh well do it anyway. Once a capital falls it's usually Sayanora due to the rules as written. And I'm sure you're a very competent player as well which makes it doubly hard to come back. Congrats on taking London DocD. It is usually hard to take London.

pagan
01-16-2005, 04:14 PM
Did Uk lose all of its troops on Norway?

DocD
01-16-2005, 07:44 PM
Yes, Pagan. All Allied troops were destroyed in Norway. Luftwaffe Dive-Bomber attacked at 4 on first round and hit (with a 4). Remaining Allied units wiped out on round 3 of combat.

pagan
01-16-2005, 08:17 PM
Since Norway is gone, it will take Uk a minimum of two full rounds before purchases can be placed on the ground.

I must conceed the game.

Although this was a short game, at least you could start to see the need for extra starting units for germany with a bid help a great deal more than their minor IPc values.

have fun playing CJ ! He won't let you get out of losing as easy as I did.

pagan

This is the end of the game.

Thanks everyone for watching.

Even though it was short, it was probably cool to watch.

Thank you Pagan.
I openly admit you played well and if things had continued along that path, I would have been the one conceding.

I'm glad to get out of this one with a quick win and much needed Mapview experience. I tell you though....that diceroller is a finicky wench!

That was so exciting, I really need to learn PBEM. I tried a while back but I couldn't figure out how to make the arrows work. They always went the same way! Up and to the right! :(

These online postings of games are really hot right now, kinda like poker on tv. Up here in Canada we have a channel: Sportsnet and honestly I have seen the same poker game like 10 times, it's like they only have one tape. It's always Freddy Deeb with Daniel Negranu to his left! Anyways, I can't wait for the next Grudge Match, since after all I am the creator of the Grudge Match! ;)

pagan

Arrows are easy and you won't like needing someone tell you how to manipulate them once you see how easy it is.

use your mouse and you can click on either end of the arrow. Hold the left mouse button down and move the arrow end to where you want.

that's it.

Vollick1979
01-16-2005, 11:06 PM
Thanks Pagan, but you just told me how to manipulate them, so in fact I did need someone! Well who could think that you had to left-click and hold near the ends of the arrows, honestly could they make it trickier? ;)

That WAS a short game! I thought Pagan was on his way to victory, but then DocD has his master counterstroke and takes United Kingdom! This was a rare game.
