Sure Doc, I'll just get in my car and drive for 8 hours, I don't know how far Indy is from Chicago but I know that it's a lot closer than London. It sounds like a great time and I know I could show some of you Yankees how the Statsman plays A&A, but that's a little far for me.

Hey Vman, don't worry. I'm sure the rollers won't mind a game of Mapview when they have time.

AR has asked me (he may or may not have been into the sauce at the time ;)) to find a partner and take on TeamAR. You up for the challenge Doc? When will you be able to go?

Doc wants the Axis with a bid, axis_roll wants a blind bid, how bout we split it in the middle and do an open bid?

I will start off the bidding at Axis + 107 (this is required for my unbeatable strategy ;))

Seriously though, Doc would you be ok with an open bid?

How are you splitting up the $5?
who gets what $$$$?

AxisRoll
03-01-2005, 06:17 PM
Ok, I want to raise the ante... If we get enough for 2 games worth. 10 or so. Then we can get a topless waitress. That's about $100 for 2hrs.. Then she will want to perform tricks for tips which should not be a problem. We can get a keg.

Oh wait. before i get ahead of myself, a_r will your kids be around? that would be an issue.

AxisRoll
03-01-2005, 06:18 PM
If they are, can we get them signed up for a sleep over? :D

axis_roll

The kids will be around...I am going to be drinking.. so I will not want to have to bring them/pick them up for sleep overs.

You can if you want... but I have plenty of room, no need to drive to Elgin.

The more, the merrier.

Maybe we'll get two game going? AR has a big board too... not sure how mobile it is....

I will PM you some directions... you'll be coming up I-55 right?

At this point... no one else but my usual group of 4-5 are scheduled...
we'll have to see who is there to partner up for teams/games.

I am not sure if we can get a second 'big board' there AR has one, obviously I have my own... (the one, the only!! already 12 years old that board is!)

Miller Lite ok with you? I was thinking of just getting a barrel to make it easier and keep things clean.

I need directions.

I am looking at flights rights now from Southwest (evidently they can pick me up here at the Moon)

Just fly into Chicago O'Hare ?

What rental car place is in O'Hare that you would recommend?

Should I take a hop-flight to another airport to get closer?

This is it. This weekend all the fun begins. AARe 3.0 will be unleashed on 2 boards. there should be around 7 - 10 people. Hopefully we can get 1 or 2 more.

Fri 5pm
Sat 9am start times...

axis_roll
04-26-2005, 11:06 AM
I would pick you up and bring you back to the airport...
I can house you as well, so your cost is travel to/from (and a meal or two)

Not sure if you can get away time wise...
If so, perhaps looking into a last minute airfare to Chicago, sometimes you can get some great deals at the last minute... even if you were to fly standby...

Try priceline.com

PM me for my phone number if you are considering this as then I can pick you up.

Seriously.

Man, I wish I could have gone :(

If I was still living in Manitoba, Canada I'd just drive down there. Alberta's a bit too far though, plus I'm working this weekend. I'd still like to hear some game reports. Will Team AR chalk up another 1 or 2 wins under their belts?? :)

AxisRoll

Well with some of the people being newer to AARe, a_r and i were most likely going to split up and smack each other around.

We are computer guys. we can do a live web cam. Have an international game...

Interested?

axis_roll
05-01-2005, 10:03 AM
Friday night until 5 pm till 3:00am...

then continue at around 10:30 am or so after a power recharge and some breakfast....
till 1:30 am again.

4 games (all 3 on three until payers had to leave, then down to 2-1...)

6 players in each game.

Allies win 3-1

Game 2 was incredible. Whackier than our TeamAR vs. Vollick&DocD.
All of America was captured by the axis .... Japan grabs W. Usa, Germany gets Washington... BUT!! Germany can not keep and spend the large booty, USSR on a desperation move wins a battle with win odds of approx 13% to take Berlin and her cash and her grabbed USA booty. Russia holds an amazing amount of gold in her banks after the turn: $126!

And our 13% desparate Attempt that made it. Rd 2 of the battle killed the axis. Russia had $120 to spend... But the Axis didnt care, we were partying in Disneyworld!!! And that's where we wanted to go!:D

What a wild and wacky game!! It just goes to show how unimportant the US is to the Allies. :D How often do you see a game where Russia has 2 bombers and a battleship? The Axis_Rolls had me on the ropes the whole game, right till the end.

13% chance of victory?
Never tell me the odds!!! (What movie does that come from? Animal House or Stripes?)

Thanks, Axis_Roll, for hosting the weekend and opening your home to all of us. It was a great weekend with a group of great people.

C-3PO: Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 to 1.
Han Solo: Never tell me the odds.

This was indeed from Empire Strikes Back

Thank you, I feel truly enlightened by a master!

By the way, what were the sides in the attack on Berlin? I never did look. When you have no choice, it doesn't matter what the odds are.

Wow! I really wish I was able to go.

So who from the boards went? I know TomJag and both Axis Rolls. Anyone else? Wow, a double US take... pretty much impossible in AH/LHTR, but a definite possibility in Enhanced. What happened? Did the US try and build two Navies, Atlantic and Pacific? Or did a decisive naval battle turn the tide?

Allies went heavy after Japan in Asia.

UK fleet tried to stop Baltic and Med fleet from hooking up in SZ 12 on G3 and was sunk doing so (a few hits above avg, but nothing game breaking).

The Axis from turn 1 decided to go after USA in a double team effort. The four round plan relied heavily on weak Russian Eastern front pressure, as Germany didn't buy ground units G1 OR G2. On R1, russia got 5 hits in ukraine on first roll and decided to w/d, taking only 1 hit as casualty but leaving Germany another ftr. Russia took T-34 (defensive in nature), so at that point, Germany and Japan decided to go after US.

Another major factor for this decision was the time of the evening.... 10 pm or so we started game 2. We were trying to get in a 4 round game plan and see how it went. When we quit around 3:00 am, it was end of round 3... the fun had to wait until Sat morning.

The family will be gone on Saturday AM.
I get the house and pool to myself for 9 days!

Looking to get a game going on that Saturday/Sunday.

I will be at Midway airport very early Sat the 25th morning... if anyone wants to fly in, I can get you to my house.

Again, plenty of room for staying overnight...
