I am debating on entering the Pact of Steel tournament next month. I have looked at the map but never played it much, so now I have to ask, who here has played this variant?

I have been thinking on a few plans but often what seems smart on a new map tends to not be so smart in the end.

I can tell you what I did, but it didn't really work for me as it was my first time trying the new variant. But this could serve as a "what not to do."

I used Italy to pump inf units into germany while germany would produce only tanks and drive them to the eastern front. At first I thought this was pretty cool cos Italy would help in defense while germany would focus on offense. Ofcourse this made Russia stack up inf and tanks on the border too but no attacks were made since we're both stacking.

This was a good thing since when the time came when USA and UK started doing their assult on south europe (italy), did I also forget to mention that UK and USA took Africa ?, well anyways once Germany was in trouble the 30 or 40 or so tanks I stacked on the eastern front gets rolled back to central europe to help fend off the yankees and the brits. This will work to hold them off for a few rounds, but if Japan doesn't kill Russia fast then it's just a matter to time and production speed for USA and UK to take over Italy and Germany.

This was my experiance, hope it helps somewhat.

I guess Italy should really go for Africa and better: an even bigger fleet.
Germany can build another factory too, but that's very personal.
