Tell me why, I waited forever for an A&A game for the computer, and then when one came out, a company called Hasbro suddenly jumped on the scene too, shut down the previous one, and put out a buggy one. Why did I then wait for a better version, and then was rewarded with a worse package called Iron Blitz. And then why did I wait for years, still yet, just to get some RTS junker that happens to be called Axis & Allies.
All this time, years of waiting for a decent axis and allies game to hit the PC. But the biggest question is, WHY is it that 2 by 3 games was able to realease a new Axis and Allies game coming out on the 15'th, that seems to be the A&A game we have all been waiting for. Why did the original designers of A&A not do this before?
At least we finally got our wish!

I think you cannot look aside tripleA. Its free shareware by the way.
It's pretty good too. You can also change unit pics etc...

"free shareware" first time I seen those 2 words put together :)
Technically its even more free than that, free/open source is more like it. According to the lisence it is under, anyone is allowed to modify the source and re-distribute it so long as they adheare to the terms that it remains free and opensource and they provide credits to the original authors. Can't do that with shareware :D

It is true that the w@w mod is getting some good reviews. But if the game has not even come out yet, then what does that tell you about the time spent on the game for the review write-up? I would still be a little cautious.

The guys at 2x3 Games only do quality work. My favorite war game for the computer is still Steel Panthers: World at War. It's downloadable for free, based on the old Steel Panthers III engine. Check out the Matrix games site, they have some good stuff. http://www.matrixgames.com/ They're one of the two really good historical computer wargame sites. The other is HPS Simulations at http://209.216.35.193/index.htm
There are some other fine historical computer wargame companies out there, but they don't put out the quantity of work that these companies do. For a great WWII campaign game for the Russian Front, try Russo German War , at http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/rgw.htm

World at War will be out before the end of the month, I suppose we shall all find out by then if it is the A&A game to replace all A&A mods or not. If 2by3 has a good track reccord then this is good. But commercial A&A mods tend to have a horrid reccord quality wise for the PC.

Simple enough, Hasbro does not know how to make computer games. Also to note, that my Axis and Allies Iron Blitz CD broke into a million pieces inside my computer and destoryed it. Good thing it was on an old computer. Poor quality and in my opinion no play testing was done on it.

I know this may sound crazy, but I still have and still play my Iron Blitz CD-ROM. It has poor AI, but is still better than many other WW2 games out there, and I like the ability to edit the values.

I have never got my Iron Blitz cd to work online. So now I am wondering Cotten, have you ever got it to work ONLINE? After trying about two dozen times I think it connected once then crashed right away. The other time my fighters just fell off the board between my move and the other guy's. Then it crashed too, shortly after.
What a POS. (No offense to Pact of Steel mod for TripleA).

I will admit I never tried online. I mostly use it with local friends or relatives when setting up the board is impractical. Mine has not been too buggy at all. Sorry to hear you have had bad results, as I hear it you are not alone.
If anyone feels the need to get rid of their Iron Blitz discs they can send them to me and I will take them off your hands so you don't have to feel bad about throwing away and A&A product. :D

That would explain a LOT!
I do not think any half experienced A&A player would ruin his reputation by trying to defend that JUNK Hasbro tried to sucker off.
