Whats the point of the buddy list?

Can someone answer why the boards have a buddy list feature? Does it really serve a purpose?

I've been wondering that myself.. maybe it makes it easier to access the person's PM info, whatever...?

I think it's because it shows a little + sign next to their name on the "Recently Signed on Users" section, making it easier to tell if they are on. However, since these boards usually never have more than 20 folks on at the most, it shouldnt be too tough anyway...
