FORTRESS AMERICA Chat - Troubleshooting

Welcome, folks, to the first in my series of chats regarding Fortress America!

Along with watching our PBEM game, which should be kicking off any day now, we invite you to take part in our Fortress America "Renaissance".

This is a great game with a few problems that made it find its way to the back of our closets. Our first topic is:

Why did you stop playing FA? (or why is it not as popular?)
Once we have pinpointed the problems, we can begin work on the answers...

I will go ahead and start the debate by saying that I think the game was pretty unbalanced toward the USA. Seems hard to capture and hold 18 cities...

Well, against 'strong' enemy invaders- I too, feel that USA has lots of "WORK" cut out for them! (Or is this a ploy to get us to admit it so we can start our 'Trash Talk'- C'mon Steve- fess up!) :D

Is it a "typo" or an elegantly hidden insult? :eek:

Although Strafing F**kin' Games might make more of a statement... :D

I still play Fortress America, at least as often as the other games (A&A, Europe, Pacific). I don't know why others don't like it. I guess today it's probably because the scenario is outdated. Not only did the Europeans not join the Soviets, but the Soviets themselves collapsed.

I am also going to "rewrite" the history behind the game to catch it up to modern times and design new decals to cover the old names of the Invaders on the board. The Euro-Socialist Pact will become The New European Union, etc.

Maybe an Al-Queda-ish terrorist army will replace the Asian People's Alliance, etc.

It is a shame that no free FA expansions will be given out, as I do not plan to lose...

PS - Other than simple playtesting, I have no more experience with these new units than you. I have never played a full game against other players with them. You will not be able to use this as an excuse when you are crunched beneath my boot. :mad:
