Has anyone got a configuration which will run sound properly with Win XP?
I have no idea how to set ports and things since the drivers have totally changed.

I would also like to know if anyone has figured out how to get this to work. Thanks!

Geoff,
A few suggestions...since I'm not familiar with your PC expertise, I am writing this post making no assumptions.
First, if my memory serves, 3R PC was written using SoundBlaster compatibility sound drivers. Many modern sound cards conform to this specification, while others do not, instead following the Microsoft DirectSound standard (part of DirectX game engine used by all current Windows games). If your sound card is embedded in your motherboard you may be able to enable SoundBlaster compatibility in the system BIOS (please refer to your PC manual for details). If your sound card is an add-in card (PCI, or ISA), you may need to install a SoundBlaster-compatibility driver, if one is available. If you have a driver disk that came with the PC, or sound card, check if there is any reference information regarding this on the disk.
Otherwise, you may need to use compatibility mode in WindowsXP. To enable compatibility mode, create a shortcut to 3R PC, right-click on it, go to Properties, and select the Compatibility tab. I would start by trying Windows 95 mode, and move to later Windows versions if this does not work.
Last, while not the most preferred method, is to create a boot disk using an old copy of DOS, Windows 95, or Windows 98 you may have on an old machine (I would recommend your usage conforms to the licensing agreement for the operating system in question). The only difficulty here is that if your sound card does not directly support SoundBlaster mode, and you do not have a SoundBlaster compatibility-mode driver, you may still be out of luck on the sound issue.
I'll see if I can dig up my old 3R PC copy, and see if I can come up with any additional suggestions.
