Simple question here....
Was Larry Harris involved in any aspect of the design of the Minis? Any aspect of the gaming system that is. I don't see Mr. Harris' name mentioned in the announcement. While I'm trying to refrain from a rush to judgement; the answer to this question would certainly sway my opinion.
I'm assuming the AH art department is handling the actual look & feel of the units. I generally like the recent work by the AH crew on that front.
P.S. maybe that's not so simple a question!

It is my understanding that larry had no part in the development of A&A minis.

That's really too bad, although I am still going to take a "wait and see" approach. If Larry Harris had been involved it would certainly lend some credibility to the A&A Minis. Without his involvement, in my mind it seems like it might just be a quick "cash in" type thing (because of the "collectable" aspect). But who knows, it might be great. I'll just have to wait and see.

If Larry had no part in it, I do not know if I will buy the game now. I like how that guy creates games. Oh well, I will have to wait until he makes a new version of one of his games, or a totally different type until I buy I new one.

well I can tell you that the lead developer is Richard Baker one of the finest game designers on the planet. some credentials:
Alternity the Rpg -Designed with Bill Slavicsek of Star Wars RPG fame (both d6 and d20).
The Award Winning Birthright setting for D&D feature mass combat as a main focus of the game.
If I was designing a game and could assemble a team of people Rich would be on the top five list.

that guy also wrote three editions (maybe four) of a huge star wars guide which says and has and mentions almost everything in star wars! the only guy who probably knows more about star wars than him is lucas

What sets these games apart from the pack? I don't know much about Baker or Slavicsek, being more familiar with boardgame designers such as Knizia and Herman.

It wouldn't matter to me if Peewee Herman and the entire cast of Sesame Street designed it, if its a good game I will buy it.
Sinister I disliked all of the above mentioned :p I am so pumped up about the game and have high hopes.

Not so fast there partner. Just because Larry didn't work on something does not mean it loses any credibility. Just think back to some of the A&A junk projects Larry was involved in. I will give this current title more of a chance than that RTS or Iron Blitz junk.

Not so fast there partner. I didn't say it loses credibility because he's not involved, I simply said if he WAS involved it would lend some credibility to the project. I suppose to be more clear "ADD" would be a better word than "LEND". I never said the game loses credibility because LH isn't involved.

What sets these games apart? I'm guessing you never played them. Star Wars and Alternity are both the mostly widely played science fiction RPGs EVER.
As for Birthright. It's a wargamer's RPG. It was designed to run a campaign not of adventures but rather a campagin full of massive scale medieval war and politics. In 1995 he won an Origins award for Best New Role-Playing Supplement for the Birthright game setting.
Also Richard Baker served as a deck officer on board the USS Tortuga and qualified as a surface warfare officer before becoming a game designer.
