I hope the pic of the T34 was effected by the lighting...should it not be green...rather than desert tan?...

Looks great except the color. The picture's at an odd angle, so I hope it's just the light. Notice the star on the card. It's our first rare.

Well, the Italian tank also had a star, a black one. The T34 has a white star. How do you know that black means uncommon and white means rare? I would have thought that a dot was common, a diamond was uncommon (see the Humber armored car) and a star was rare. But why the to colors of stars? Do you think the axis symbols are all black, and the allied symbols are all white?

I have got to believe that this is an unpainted model. It's gotta be. Like most "collectable" games/models, I also have to believe that the same model will be offered up in a multitude of paint schemes.

I guess now that I'm over the initial disappointment of the "one infantry figure to a base" deal, I'm kinda currious about the rest of the package, you know; rules, mapboards, expandabilities on these two items and just the whole, general concept and direction of this project.

There's alot of jumpy folks on this board, very touchy about things. I, for one, happen to like Herr Adlers's points of view. No matter if many out there seem to not appreciate "how" he is going about expressing his views. Come on folks, let's remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Conversely, everyone has an opinion about the other person's opinion as well ;)

I don't mind the appearance of the T-34 at all. It's another tank.

And the more Armor is featured in the game...the less I care about Infantry representation. I can have as much fun with massive tank battles.

Just guessing, but I tend to think you are probably correct about this. I have not heard of different levels of rare for A&A Minis, and Wizards' rarity markings are pretty uniform on their games that have cards, with circle being common and diamond being uncommon, and star being rare. Now, there are different rarity levels for Duel Masters cards. Check their card database for examples.

The more I look at the t34, the more I like it. It's got some reallly nice detail on it. Like I said before, hopefully it's really green, but overall I'm really impressed. Can't wait to see Mr. Tiger.

Adler, I thought you were leaving?

hmmm... I do remember him "signing out" long ago proudly declaring to never return. For a man that shows so much passion he isnt proving to be very resolute.

I generally agree with what he says, so I am glad to still have him around.

I play Star Wars Minis and the rarity symbols are the same for all of the wizards cmg games. It looks like all the tanks will be rare. The scout car is uncommon. I would assume the infantry to be common. So maybe in a booster, you'll get 1 tank, a couple of uncommons (scout cars, etc), and the rest will be infantry of sorts.

I don't remember any mention of Ultra - Rare but I assume there might be. I would assume then that the T34 would be ultra rare. So different color stars means different rarity. I hope that I am wrong.

I see no reason at all for the T-34 to be a rare. I understand there is no apparent relationship between "rare" in real life, and assigning a "rare" collectible status to a mini. However, it has been my limited experience that you can usually assemble a "core" of an army using commons and uncommons. The rare things are extra cool stuff, and very nice to have, but not essential when getting started.

I would have thought the T-34, being the backbone of the Soviet armor, would be uncommon (can't imagine any armor being common). I would have thought that perhaps a heavy tank might be rare, or Katyush artillery, things like that.

But upon reflection, I can now see that from a strictly cost-benefit analysis, all tanks are probably rare, with a smattering of armored cars (smaller figures, less plastic, easier to paint) being uncommons.

Boy, I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to find out that the "backbone" armor of the various nations (Shermans, Pz IV, etc) are not all rares.

Based on what has been said about the actual game mechanics so far. You will only have 1 or 2 tanks in your battle group so making them rare fits in with the amount you will be using in game.

I think I figured out the different colors on the rarity symbol. If you look at the whole card for the T34 most of the writing is in white except for the special abilities. If you look at the M13 the same writing is in black.

Allies = White writing
Axis = Black writing

On the rarity level, you have to remeber that THIS T-34 will be rare. Future sets may give a us a different model/paintjob and make it an uncommon or even rare, but then there will be more. Just like the Ogre in the D&D minis. Not the greatest, but it will work over time. I was hoping they would keep the rares for the odditties like Sherman Crocs or Flail tanks, or the Mouse. Not the main tanks. Oh well. I did find with the D&D minis that while you weren't always happy with what you got, over time you built up an impressive set.

It's entirely possible that those cards are just production or prototype versions. They do change design somewhat from preview to preview.

It was previously mentioned that tanks/vehicles make up roughly half the set. We have to assume that uncommons will encompass a bit more than recon vehicles or transports. It's not out of the question to expect light tanks to fit into the same category.

As for rares...I assume that heavy tanks like the Tiger or the Pershing (if even included) would definately be rare. Large scale AT guns like the 88mm Flak 40 or the Pak 40 would definately need to be rare and expensive, points-wise.

Certain infantry could also be rare, I imagine that some of the command figures must be potent enough to warrant it.

I think we'll have a fair distrubution of minis. The random rare in the starter pack is encouraging, considering the size of the set.

I think the inidication was most tanks would be rare or uncommon and the ranking officers would also fill an uncommon slot. So the bulk of your common will probably be infantry and crew served weapons.

I noticed that the sIG 33 was rare and I think it was a good choice. I would like to see the rarity scale be based somewhat on historical accuracy. There should be plenty of T-34's and Shermans available while variants like the Sherman Crocodile and less produced like the sIG 33 units should fill the rare ranks. This would allow for more accurate games while still creating a demand for the rares. By the way, I wonder which Sherman we're going to get and what's it look like???
