While looking at Descent: Journeys in the Dark on fantasyflightgames.com, I noticed a striking resemblance to the classic game Warhammer Quest.
It seems like it borrows a lot from Quest and merges it with their current Runebound game.
The rules are available for download. The game itself is due out in September. this may be a game to watch out for. RPG themed games are usually pretty cool.

Thanks for the heads up. If Fantasy Flight is doing it, I bet it will be great. Especially the quality card stock they use.

I wouldn't run out and get it just yet. It is a updated modified Doom system style game. It has no solo option, and the dungeon is not random. The game play with one person playing the Ultimate Bad Guy and his minions, and the dungeon is scenario driven, just like Doom. Which BTW is the weakest element of the Doom game.
I think I'll pass.

Gobo do u not like the one -person is the bad guy games? I can think of a bunch of games where I really like this idea. This game actually seems like it's alot like the old dragon strike game only more complex and meant for the runebound universe. I'll bet it's quality componets, that's what FFG is known for, balanced games however, is another story with FFG.

What I'm saying is that this game and Warhammer Quest have little in common except they are dungeon romps. Desent is a scenario based game, with all the levels premade and must have a DM. While Warhammer Quest has a random generator and solo rules, which leads to endless variety.
Those who think Desent is the next Warhammer Quest is be disapointed. But, that doesn't make Desent less enjoyable for those that will play it. I just wanted to make sure they are warned.

Runebound has often been compared to GW's talisman. Anyone have thoughts on which is better. I own both.

Just because Quest had random dungeon tile placement, doesn't make it better. Quest also was scenario based.
Endless variety? With the objective room( the whole goal of a quest game), there were only 30 randomly chosen types of rooms you could have. There were 5 objective rooms and each had six possible variants. Also, there were only six randomly determined encounters in the objective room. This assumes that you were only playing the base game.
Heroquest had a premade dungeon and it was a good game in its own right.
Descent, as long as it is supported by fantasy flight on their website, can be made just as replayable as Quest was. Hopefully, their scenarios will be free and not cost an arm and a leg like the Quest system. This game seems like it can be easily modified with advanced rules.
Don't get me wrong, I consider Warhammer Quest one of the best games I own. Quest was the most fun when you played the advanced rules with a DM. But that is just my opinion, being an old school AD&D player.
