View Full Version : Anyone know Ohio
Hey, just finished my first marathon Sunday, I enjoyed it quite a bit. So, I want to do another one. The USAF one is at Wright-Patterson AFB. I have a couple questions?
What airports should I be looking at flying into? Whats the nearest town/city for lodgings? What's the temp in Ohio mid Sept?
Thanks

dayton is the town but I have no idea what their airport is named.
Temps in sept. can be varied, but most likely 75-85.

Grats on the running! I used to run Cross Country in college - but my knees are shot - my surgeon told me to only run if chased *grin*.
I live in Dayton (actually in Fairborn - where the base is).
The airport is Dayton International. It's a bit north of Dayton and west of the base.
The temps can vary wildly. It is also often much much cooler in the evenings than the daytime. The day can be 70s-90s, and the evenings can be as low as 50s to 70s.
The Dayton area is very humid, so take that into account when training/dressing/hydrating.
Fairborn is closest to the base and has several motels. Beavercreek is also very close (that's the area where the mall is at) and has several hotels/motels.
Let me know if I can be of further help. Enjoy your run!
Thanks for info and the quick replys. Now I can start to figure out airfare! And google some towns for hotels and what not. To see if I can swing the funds.
Helps a lot, thanks again...
Oh, sorry about the kness DeltaBob, my doc was a little concerned about me starting to run marathons at 38.
Guess I showed him last Sunday... hehe
