I have heard a lot about this game recently, and have done a little research. From what little I have found (most sites are for 1 and 2 editions; reminded me a lot of Cosmic Encounter, that way) it looks cool, but
It costs $80!
For $80 I can buy RoboRally and Conquest of the Empire. Is this an $80 game that is truly worth it, like Attack! expanded, or is it a $40 game with way to many bells and whistles?

I think Robo Rally and CotE will run you closer to $100 if paying full retail (which is the only way you would pay $80 for TI3).
If you haven't researched Fantasyflight.com or Boardgamegeek.com yet I recommend you to check those out. FF.com has a little information on an expansion they are planning right now for TI3 too.
There's typically less combat then I'd like to see, but I still enjoy playing the game when time allows. It's not one of my Top 10, but I play so many games that is a hard list to crack.
I haven't played TI1 or TI2, but most people who have played the earlier versions think TI3 is superior.
You get a whole lot of bits with TI3 too.

Online I can get RoboRally for <40, and CotE (when it comes out) for probably little enough to make the Grand total 80. CotE is in the high 60s, low 70s, so with shipping. . . .
okay, $70-75
If I can get it for less, please tell me.
But thanks-I've checked out Fantasy Flight, but forgot about BGG.

I've got both CotE, from Eagle Games, and TI3, from Fantasy Flight. CotE is slightly heavier and $60, retail. TI3 is quite heavy, itself (heavier than The Longest Day and Stalingrad). You can't go wrong with all 3 games.
The map for CotE is HUGE. It comes with the original rules and completely different new rules, so you can play either version.
We'll be running both CotE and TI3 at FlatCon, in September.

Cardhaus.com sells everything for 30% below the retail price ($54 for an $80 game...I'm getting Descent from them). I don't know how much shipping is, but if you spend a total of $100 or more in one purchase, shipping is free.

Thoughthammer.com has Twilight for $51.97, Robo Rally $35. and CotE for $41.99
I have purchased many games from them and they have been great. Shipping is free for $100+ purchases and they offer economy shipping for $6 unlimited items.

Okay, further and extremely exhaustive research makes me wonder what the sites were where I got my numbers the first time around. Probably all Canadian. But yes, the free shipping clinched it; I'll get all three at once, just somewhat later.
