What were the old rules to start the game like? I know that instead of docking bay there were these "virtual robots"... But how did it work like?
Are there any other rules that have changed in a significant way?
What made the previous edition not as simple as the new one?

All bots used to start on the same square (usually a single wrench), and were 'virtual'. A virtual bot could not affect another bot in any way - movement, shooting, etc. The first turn everyone was virtual for the entire turn (the bots were represented by a paper chit, so they could be stacked). At the end of the first turn (after phase 5) any robot NOT sharing a space with another robot became real (replaced with the miniature) and could now interact with other real robots normally. If there were still some bots sharing the same space, they stayed virtual for the next turn, and so on.
Also, when coming back after being destroyed, you were virtual.

I presume that virtual bots would get damage when ending a register on a space with laser... am I correct?
How long were You virtual when returnig after being destroyed?
So it's still possible to play using virtual rules... achieve markers can show the position of virtual bots...
Has anything else has been changed/removed from the original rules?

Yes.
One turn.
You need to mark the archive marker to indicate the front, but otherwise yes.
Some minor wording on the cards, nothing that I saw as a big deal (except for the 'Superior Archive' - it used to work even if it was the only option you had when destroyed (and you lost it because of it) - now apparently you have to have a second option to lose when destroyed for this to work.
