What if a fighter jet plots its moves to land in an empty space where it expects its own aircraft carrier to end its move there, but due to other reasons the aircraft carrier was unable to make the move? Is the fighter jet lost (crashed into the ocean)?

Welcome, Jack208!
Fighters need not land where they were originally plotted to land if the conditions change due to combat results. They may land in any friendly land territory (that was friendly at the beginning of your turn) or carrier within their remaining movement allowance. If there is no such landing place, the fighter is lost.
