Sorry to see the forum empty. I was hoping there were still people out there who actively played this game.

I'd LOVE to play it, but where can I find it and why isn't it for sale anymore?
I personally am totally sick and tired of WWII games, and really enjoy a great Civil War Game.
Whats the story behind the dissappearance of this game????

Hi guys.
I enjoy battle cry a lot. (I even have the rare Jackson campaign from GEN CON featuring scenarios 16, 17, & 18). I haven't played for a while, probably because it is a two player game only. Think I'll try to get a game in. :)
Battle Cry doesn't get discussed much because the rules are clear enough (with help from the FAQ) and the tactics are mostly cetred around making good use of cards given the situation, which is hard to write about. Every so often somebody posts a hope for an expansion or an alternate setting. Battle Cry had dsiappeared from the game page (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=ah/products), so it's unlikely we will see such a thing anytime soon.
Where are you from, Kobra? I know my local shop here in Canada would send you a copy for reasonable shipping costs. If you search the net, there will be plenty of copies there as well. Here is a link to an eBay auction:

What a fantastic game BattleCry is. I am absolutely astounded that, from what I read on here, this game is out of print. There are/were a couple good websites that supported this game for quite awhile. All told, with the original senarios plus Jacksons' Campaign and the senarios posted by loyal fans on the BattleCry websites, I have something like 47 senarios for this jewel. I'm very happy now about having bought two copies when I could.
The one really good website was, I think, "Battlecry: A Command & Colors Game II" website or something like that. Then there was one called "The Unofficial BattleCry Website". I think I found the links through Web Grognards. :)
Sorry to hear this. This is a great game that lack of support killed. I did manage to round up 4 copies of the game over time but of course finding folks to play with was the hard part. Only ended up playing 3 times. One was a grand battle with the boards laid out so that each board was a flank and we picked at random 3 different scenarios for each and each had a deck of cards to draw from. It took some time but was a blast!
Anyone around Dayton,Ohio wanna play???
Finally, Memoir44 has some expansions coming out that will add lots of new terrain you can use - roads, railroads, lakes, mountains - you name it!
Hoo-ha!!!

Hey Dorb, Kaufschtick here. Dayton? Are you kidding, I'm just a stones throw away, north side of Columbus in Worthington! I go out to Wright-Pat all the time to check out the Air Force Museum! About an hour + 15 minutes, I'd say. Hell, we're practically neighbors! I always wanted to try one of the big multi board scenarios. You bring the extra copies of the game and I'll bring the "brews"! :D

I'm a big fan of this game, too. I play it every now and then with my brother. Alas, it never got the support that is being heaped on Memoir 44- I think the interest would be there if they had come out with expansions (not just new scenarios), but it seems there is little to no chance of that now. AH could take a lesson from DoW about how to maintain (& give) fan support. They haven't made expansions/new scenarios easily accessible for the games that I have purchased from them.
One of my local mom & pop game stores in Cambridge, MA has about 3 or 4 copies of BC on it's shelves. I have no idea if they do mail orders, though. They aren't the friendliest folks to deal with, either, for some reason, but I have made some good finds there.

I purchased Battle Cry few weeks ago on discount. I the heat of the moment, I also got Memoir '44 and can only express sadness for the (mis)treatment Hasbro did to Battle Cry.
I know that many scenarios have been designed as well as house rules implemented, but it would have been nice if mr Borg could revert the rights on the title and implement some improvements from Memoir '44 into Battle Cry.
However, there's slim chance for that given that another game (Ancients) from Command and Colours series is soon to be published, this time by GMT. I guess new game would use much of mr Borg's time in the future.

You guys need to check out the new Ancients game from GMT. It is in final production stage and is a notch up in complexity from both this one and Memoir. Also the minis have been replaced by wooden blocks because there are going to be more than 300 units in the game. The scenario list has been put out and it looks freaking awesome.

Well, I for one have recently "re-discovered" Battle Cry!
A couple of us at work decided that eating out everyday was getting too expensive, and now with gas so high, going ome for lunch is not cost effective either.
That leaves the company lunch room. Since listening to Price is Right everyday is intolerable, we decided to play Risk.
When all but one of the group decided at the appointed day that they were too embarassed to play Risk at lunch, I brought in Battle Cry.
I bought Battle Cry shortly after it came out, played once, but couldnt get anyone to play again.
Now, we play Battle Cry almost everyday at work. Its great! The longest game was 50 minutes, and we have ample time to eat.
Its amazing that we almost always split each scenario. We play each four times, switching sides.
Only four more to go, and we start some of the downloaded scenarios.
Now question:
We are beginning the Chancellorsville scenario.
With the Union starting surrounded, do they still retreat toward the board edge? It seems that would be advancing toward other Confederate units and away from the trap.

The retreat rules are the same for every scenario, and regardless of the direction of the attack (it is possible to retreat towards the attackers). You could make a house rule allowing (forcing) retreating away from the attacker, but this might make it more difficult to run anyone of the board.
Chancellorsville is amoung my favorite scenarios. Although there may be more luck involved with the cards and having the appropriate board sections, Chancellorsville is highly distincive.
Happy gaming.

We played the Chancellorsville scenerio thurday at lunch. It was a blast. It is amazing how when we analyze how we think a set-up will play out before the four game series, it seems to play out completely differently. We thought the union would be pressed into the trap and crushed, instead, the union set up a bunker outside the trees, and crushed any Rebel attempt to get at them. Of course, the Union had good cards, including the "Assault all center" which is an "All out offensive" in this set-up. We'll see how game two goes monday.
This is why my buddy and I love this game. It sure makes lunchtime a daily highlight.
