First expansion: Russian front?

I've read that the 1st expansion will be out in December. I've also read (don't remember where) that it will be the "Russian Front". Can anyone confirm this?

Yes... I read that it is due dec. 7 and it has a Russian front theme to it

Here is a little bit more info that I have...

It will be a 45 miniature expansion... (I thought they were supose to be 48) there will be snipers, paratroopers, cavalry, chinese, polish, romanians. there will also be soviet's heavy IS-2 and T-34/85, german king tiger, and nashorn tank. expected to be out on dec. 7 (pearl harbor day)

But I'm assuming that armies like Romania, etc, won't be very well represented in terms of troops and equipment (similar to Fraqnce and Italy in this version of the game), but it won't stop people - who probably haven't even played the game - questioning how they are supposed to field an army with so few pieces.

The answer being, of course, that they're not - they're meant to be additions to other, larger armies.

Waitaminnit! The next expansion isn't going to be called "Romanian Front"? The Romanians were so significant to the war the designers are basically CRIMINALS if they don't design a whole set around the Romanian army. If I can't field an entire Romanian force it basically isn't WWII! This sucks!

Further more. Russia had the largest horse cavelry in WWII, not the polish. :)

Also dont forget the germans had a ton of horses in their military early on, granted must were pulling carts.

I do hope the poles get at least 4 pieces. (7tp tank, TKS tankette with 20mm cannon, Infantry (preferably armed with the indiginour BAR variant) and a commander) I do doubt that they will give more than 1 rare to the Poles or Romanians. (anyone got an idea what tank the Romanians may get?)

Will the Romanians necessarily get a tank? Some signs suggest, yes, but can we be entirely sure? What if the Romanians are all Infantry figures, for example?

Forget the romanians, i am waiting with baited breath to play a game of chineses vs japanese infantry...it sounds so thrilling...do you think they will make one infantry for Chiang Kai-shek's forces, and one for the communists?

Hopefully the expansion after that will centre upon french morrocan troops....it all sounds so thrilling.......

God forbid that Avalon hill bring out more tanks/ us/uk/german paratroopers/ SIG33's, the dreaded 88mm, serman firefly's in the next expansion...they might actually be selling us what we want.

Some of these choices, I agree, are very questionable. Why are we seeing a King Tiger before a Panzer MkIII? Cavalry? Did someone on the design team get suckered into the Polish Cavalry-Charge myth? If we want Cavalry, we can just use infantry...I mean, c'mon, cavalry had for the most part been fighting dismounted since the American Civil War.

In an effort to derive more mobility in their army, the Russsians mounted great numbers of men on horses, thus creating a cavalry force.

Wanting to better their eastern neighbors, the Polish cavalry force cut off the feet of their horses and mounted wheels...

(A bit of Polish humor there, and I'm of Polish descent, so no complaining, you!)

Yeah, they should include other Romanian equipment that the infantry can abandon like when the Red Army began to encircle Stalingrad...

I'm sure steve this is strictly marketing more than anything else. Every WWII game buff and grognard will be craving to have a King Tiger to field and Wizards know this.

As far as calvary, again, Wizards appear to be modeling AAM after ASL and plan on trying to be as inclusive as possible with the diversity of units. Expect motorcycles and Partisans in an expansion to come.

there are Chinese in the Russian Front expansion!...why?...I hope that is bad info...

I figure the Romanians and Polish will take up 6 of the 45 units...so 39 units remaining to do lots of East front stuff...hope to see stuff like...T34/85 , JS1 , SU85 , SU100 , partisans , guards , sniper , Cossacks , Naval infantry...and...Tiger II , JagTiger , Hetzer , JagPzIV , StugIII , PzIII ,...to mention a few...
