O.K. I made the cover role then what?

So he made the roll for cover. What happens after that does the attack just not happen and move on to the next peice or can I move the peice that was going to attack. I would like to know a friend and I where playing today and we where just wondering.

you resolve the attack, and no matter how many successes you get, you can only score a disruption...

for example, a Vickers shoots at a Pak38 in cover, the Pak38 rolls and succeeds at cover (4, 5, or 6), the Vickers then resolves it's attack, and even if every die is a success, you can only disrupt the Pak38.

I dont have the rule book for a cut and paste, I am here at work. But when you make your roll for cover the attack still happens, but the most damage the unit can take is a face down disrupted counter. To further the question along... what happens if the unit already has a facedown disrupted counter on it? In this instance, you can continue the attack, but since the unit is already disrupted the attack wont be able to do any additonal damage. :eek:
