Is their a site that has various infantry weapons that both the Axis & Allies used during the war?

or if you'd like list some of the weapons that various countries used.

Mainstream weapons that saw worthy combat in the American armed forces are as follows:

America-
Rifles
M1 Garand
M1903 Springfield

Note: Both of these weapons had scoped versions for use as sharp-shooter weapons. The Springfield was the primary rifle for the Marines until they received M1 rifles in sufficient numbers in I believe 1943.

Note: Some people will cite the M1941 Johnson semi-auto rifle as a viable weapon of the Marines. However, this weapon never was standardized with any branch of the U.S. armed forces.

Carbines
M1 Carbine
M1A1 Carbine

Note: Only difference I know of is folding stock on the M1A1 Carbine. This was used by paratroopers.

Sub Machine Guns
M1928 Thompson*
M3 Grease gun
Reising Model 55

*Not sure on all the versions used. Information would be appreciated.
Note: Reising SMG was in very brief service with the U.S. Marines and U.S. Army Airborne.

Light Machine Guns
M1919A4
M1919A6

Pistols
M1911 Colt .45
Browning something or other
Some sort of revolver thing used by the Marines

That's all I can think of at the moment. I do know that the Marines made extensive use of Shotguns, but I’m hesitant to add those because that was a specialty weapon.

WOW! thanx Dan. I'm in the process of making house rules that allow players to design their own infantry. Kind of like the old Players Hanbook used in Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. If your familiar with that game. Two of the U.S. classes will be Marines and Rangers. Still need some German weapon info though. I'll hit the library tommorrow.

The model 1897 Shotgun by Winchester was used in WWI to clear trenches. Some old-school Marines felt that is worked great in the close confines of jungle warfare so it was also used in WWII.

The Smith and Wesson model 1917 revolver (45 ACP) was used during WWI. The U.S. could not produce enough model 1911s to meet demand so S&W produced the 1917 revolver. The revolver also saw use in WWII.

Thank you for the confirmation, Tenechs.

I know of all the mainstream small arms that Germany used, but I’m hesitant to actually post it as further research shows that they had an absolutely ass-normous amount of weapons in use through all stages of the war.

Check out this great list of WWII weaponry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_World_War_II_weapons) on Wiki.

You might find particularly useful the list of firearms of the war (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_World_War_II_firearms)

Note, if you know something to add, it's wiki, so you can edit it. I love to contribute when I get the chance, so if you have any particular questions, I'll see if it's in the banks...
