So I collected enough figures to play all the scenarios released by WOTC so far. Yesterday afternoon I invited my wife to try out the NA1 scenario. She said she was watching a movie and said she will play afte rthe movie finishes. Three hours later, I ask her again; she says shes not in the mood to play a game. So I sulk, she sulks, we dont speak for 2 hours. Finally dinnertime we patch up, have dinenr and go to sleep. So I lost a Sunday, did not speak to my wife for 2 hours, and was in a generaly bad mood through out.

Next time you should give here a 25 point handicap. That always gets their attention. ;)

My wife is supportive but not interested at all in playing. I play with her father and her nephew.

I'm impressed that your wife would even give the game a second glance. My wife will help me test some DDM warbands at times when I'm not sure which to run for a tourney, but she won't touch AAM.

How long have you been married??

I've been married over 25 years and there is only one game that Iplay with my wife and it does not involve miniatures.

It is scrabble.

My advice. Do something she wants in return she does something you want. But I am only 18 and went through 6 G/F very fast so what do I know.

Good man, though I do not know you...I am proud.

Don't sweat it, It just gives you an excuse to go find someone else (that's interested) to play with.

Depending on the 'interpretation' of what you are saying,...

Oh I just had to jump in and join here! Heck yeah it'll destroy a relationship!
I've been gone 3 nights this past week to play this thing! Sure I've always been a play
baby and she's been cool about it, but yesterday I got that look! Hey, some things just
take priority over remodeling that bathroom, huh!

Right there with you, Mutt, I have been playing games for quite a while, so this isn't the first 'marriage destroyer' I've dealt with! I know the look, it's not the AAMs themselves, she could care less what game it is, but spend too much of a week out gaming and you're bound for trouble. I get more time than some of my married buddies so I count myself lucky, and she sometimes will play a game that doesn't involve war, like Puerto Rico or a train game.

The first game I got really into after we were together made her worry some, but I think she realized she'd much rather have a guy who went and played war games than a drunkard or a womanizer...

Bingo, eventhough I still need to remind mine of that from time to time.

My wife and I share an interest in role playing games, but she doesn't share my interest in playing with "dolls" (her term of torment). The closest she has ever been to miniature gaming (my term) is to help me plan a Charlie Company campaign I ran. She deployed the VC and NVA troops, set the punji stakes and land mines and generally did her best for Uncle HO. My players (Charlie Company is a cooperative game where the players vie against the game master) always begged for mercy when they knew my VC Wife (Their term) had planned the defenses.

Maybe we should be glad if our wives and girl friends don't jump in...they are truly merciless! Are their any ladies out there who are playing?

Hey DocD, I'll fix ya up with her! It'd mean a few extra gaming nights per week
for me! But beware, two teen girls come witht the deal!
I've gotten a whole lotta milage out of the "'at least I'm not at a bar " line!

I must be the luckiest SOB in the world. My wife will play most "mild" games like Risk, Settlers of Catan, Merchants of Venus etc. She has even helped me paint my minis a time or two when I need real detail work done like faces. She does not get into the heavy games like Empire in Arms or anything WWII or Civil War.

I have not tried this out on her yet but she does like the look of the figs and tanks.

She even wants to come to Gencon or Origins next year!!! I was stunned when she said that.

MY wife aka CEO plays games since we know each other (even my mother in law sometimes plays Settlers of Catan or other games with us) but they do not touch wargames. But in december we are moving in a new house and I was promised a 8' gaming table in one of the cellar room.

Women don't like anything that we do that doesn't center the attention around them. If we didn't have them though we would all be playing miniatures all day, or something else fun! :)

I have better luck with my kids than my wife. She thinks games are a huge waste of time and money. How can one reason with such foolish reasoning?!

Tammy played a ton of Battleground WWII (15mm) and even her sister started playing the Russians. This game interests her and she has played once but she spends most of her gaming time playing online games lol
