If an infantry unit is being transported on a vehicle with the 'Fighting Platform' special ability, can it use defensive fire against enemy units?

The standard rule on transported units is that they can't fire, period. Firing Platform allows you to break that rule during your own Assault phase. Defensive fire happens during the other payer's Movement or Assault phase, not yours, so the transported unit can't fire.

Caught you. :)

It's bound to happen every now and then, but you just ruled the opposite in this thread (http://boards.avalonhill.com/showthread.php?t=8446). Either ruling is reasonable, but I think we need a clarification either way.

Oops. Should have checked the text for Fighting Platform instead of relying on memory. Transported units don't get to use defensive fire because they can only attack during their own Assault phase. I fixed the other answer so there's no more contradiction.

P.S. Anyway, you spelled "Transported" wrong. :p
