View Full Version : Utter confusion on the GC-1 scenario

I am totally confused about the sequence of events in a turn on the GC-1/2 scenarios. Since the whole map is a jungle, only short range attacks are possible because of LoS. Now if a arisaka soldier is adjacent to say, a M1 Garand and there is a Imp. Sergeant adjacent to the Arisaka, how does the attack go?

Arisaka soldier attempts to move into same hex as the M1 and draws defensive fire.
AS has cover so he rolls for cover. If he succeeds, he ignores Defensive fire, else
If defensive fire succeeds, then AS is disrupted, else the M1 rolls for cover.
If cover roll succeeds, then AS can only deal a max of disruption, else he gets to attack with hand to hand combat.

Is this correct?

Now imagine if instead of the Arisaka its a MG Team which has double attack, how many if-else would that create and because of the nature of the map, more likely there are more than 2 units each turn capable of doing this. It kinda gets complicated to keep track of all the happenings...

Not quite correct;
1) Arisaka attemts to enter hex with M1
2) M1 rolls defensive fire, if it hits then arisaka rolls for cover (to negate the defensive fire)
3) If arisaka successfully enters the M1's hex. Then it makes a H2H attack. And the M1 does not get a cover roll. No "if-else" conditions here, you don't get cover roles against the H2H special ability.
You had 1 & 2 functionally correct, but not 3.

MG teams don't have H2H ability. I'm not at all sure that the axis player would choose to banzai charge with an MG unit, since it's almost as lethal if it just sits & shoots without gambling on the M1's defensive fire.
But assuming the MG did banzai charge..
1) M1 rolls defensive fire
2) MG rolls for cover
3) If MG not disrupted by defensive fire then it enters M1's hex.
4) MG makes 1st attack
5) M1 roles for cover.
6) MG makes 2nd attack
7) M1 roles for cover again

Sounds good to me.

It's worth it to Banzai Charge with a machinegun if your enemy's unit has no defensive fire left. You get +1 on your attack rolls, and your opponent suffers -1 on his cover rolls, greatly increasing your chances of killing the enemy unit. Plus, your Machinegun could well be in a better position after the charge. But if he'll get defensive fire on you, the risk of having your MG disrupted and innefectual is greater than the effective bonus you get from attacking him.
