As the game goes on, one might accidentally knock over a "population marker" or there might be a close game and a "recount" may be needed!

You can usually just add the points from the player board and correctly adjust to the player track/s. However, there also might be some event cards that may also be a means to collect victory points, etc.

What we do is, if a card ability was obtained by a player, just put the card off to the side (by discard pile) and keep a record of what players obtained what for the particular card.

ie: If player B purchased 5 victory points (for $10) according to an event card. just put a counter (a color bead, dice, chip, etc.) on that particular part of the card....this way Player B can count up the victory pts (Red Stars) on his/her player card along with the event cards obtained and compare it to the score track to correctly keep the score especially if a piece gets bumped!

Population and revenue totals are easy to recalculate from the tiles you've purchased.

Prestige/victory points could be near impossible b/c so many cards can adjust them (purchasing opportunities, meeting conditions for X number of slots/lounges/restaurants/entrance connections, etc.). And the publicity action gives you a point every time you take it so that's the real kicker.

The real problem is that people flip the fame counter off the track. If you trust the people you play with you could just keep track on your hotel sheets, where it is less likely to be knocked off. But if you don't you could keep track in an impartial manner like pen and paper, or heavier markers like lead weights so that they are less likely to be knocked around.
